Feel Good Music Videos

Even though we hate getting the feels, we really don't.

"Warm fuzzies" or "the feels" - whatever you call them, we all get them every once in a while. For me, a very select few music videos really give me hope for myself and the future.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis - Same Love

This video not only signifies the daily struggle of the contemporary social movements that exist today but also explain how the people who claim to be "accepting" are actually most of the time, the least accepting. The whole song is a very respectful approach to all of the preconceived ideas of gender identity and stereotypes, sexual orientation, and even more unreachable and unrealistic societal expectations. To whoever is struggling out there and is facing any of these problems - I salute you.

Ed Sheeran - Photograph

Ed Sheeran does an excellent job of giving such gentle encouragement to keep going even when the going gets hard. The entire video is of him from the time that he is an infant to the pinnacle of his career - a true showing of how if you want something bad enough, you will do whatever it takes to get there. One can imagine that it was not a piece of cake to rise to the top of the charts so quickly and sell 1.19 copies of a song. He persevered through every obstacle that was placed in front of him, making this video all that more special.

Taylor Swift - You Belong With Me

Nice girls finish last? Not in this video. For your inner hopeless romantic, this video portrays 2 teenagers who are neighbors that fall in love. "Hey, isn't this eeeeeeasy?" ... Well, not exactly, Taylor. This spreads the hope that you really are going to fall in love with your best friend because let's be real, all of the best relationships come from awesome friendships. If you're ever feeling hopeless about your non-existent love-life, this video can be the cure and give you the feels at the same time!

Thomas Rhett - Die A Happy Man

Alright, I don't think anyone will ever get over the fact that he recruited his wife to be the woman in the music video. Their love and chemistry is undeniable and not to mention, they are just a ridiculously attractive couple. The way that he sings about her (because, you know, the song is LITERALLY ABOUT HER) is so intimate and heartfelt. You could almost reach out and touch the love in the air because he really does put all of his feelings out on the table. One can only dream of a love like Thomas and Lauren (Gregory) Rhett.

John Legend - You & I (Nobody in the World)

Yet another video with a featured wife (@ChrissyTeigen)! Not only does that factor make it extra super sweet and cute but he really conveys a message of self-acceptance and love. He describes the ideal - a man who loves you for exactly who you are. All women are beautiful and all women deserve to know that. Period. No questions asked.

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
