Feelings You Have Leading Up To Winter Break

Tests on tests on tests, meeting after meeting after meeting...

Before Thanksgiving break is even over, you're already counting down the days until winter break. Here are some feelings that you might have leading up to winter break.

"I JUST WANT TO WATCH NETFLIX AND SLEEP!!!"

1. You're optimistic at first, and reasonably so. Three weeks? Hey, you've made it through over three months. It can't be THAT bad.

What's 15 more school days? Especially considering that the last week will just be coloring and watching "Elf."

2. Then you start watching tests and project deadlines pile up... You're worried, but you've still got this.

What's one more project?

3. Two weeks left... You look at your planner and all of your club meetings, practices, tests, quizzes and deadlines are set. There are three important things scheduled every day, and your optimism starts to fade away.

Because clearly every club has to meet during the same week, and every class has to have something due! There's no better option!

4. WHY IS TIME GOING BY SO MUCH SLOWER THAN IT NORMALLY DOES?

5. You start seriously considering dropping out of school, because, hey, then every day will be like winter break.

(This is before you remember that higher education is a thing that you want to pursue, so dropping out of high school may not be the best choice)

6. Studying for your quizzes and tests become even more tedious because you have no idea what you're doing. Maybe you should have been focusing on the lecture instead of making outrageous plans for winter break that will ultimately never happen.

Three tests on subjects you don't fully understand in one day? Thanks, Satan.

7. What even is a full night of sleep anymore?

"I'm in bed by midnight!! Where's my medal?"

8. At this point, seeing Christmas decorations just brings you sadness.

"WHY IS IT SO FAR AWAY? DON'T TEASE ME LIKE THAT. THAT'S SO RUDE"

9. You miss a deadline or two, or three, and you honestly don't care anymore at this point.

"What's ten points off of a homework grade, anyways? I'll just use my late pass and pray for the best"

10. Even though you're actually really disappointed in yourself, you're just too EXHAUSTED to be emotional about it.

"I would care so much more if I had the energy"

11. You're sitting in class in the middle of the week when you realize: ITS ALMOST HEREEEEE!!!!

Wait, has it really been almost three weeks??

12. WINTER BREAK IS ALMOST HEREEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

13. Running out of your last class with the biggest look of disbelief.

"Did I actually survive these three weeks of literal hell on Earth?"

14. Your excitement wears off when you realize how quickly your break is going to fly by.

Especially in comparison to the three weeks leading up to it.

15. But hey, you sure are going to enjoy it while it lasts (Even with the assignments that you were given over the break)

"Oh, sleep, how I've missed you so."

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
