How To Feel Confident About Yourself

Confidence is probably one of the hardest things to get, but once it is there, you can conquer the world.

We all need to stop telling ourselves that we are not worth it because someone else didn't think we were up to their standards or a "beautiful" person. I am so tired of all of this body shaming that comes around, but I am equally as tired of people complaining how they do not like themselves. Usually it's because they're comparing themselves to the impossible standards of what it means to be a beautiful person. I know how you feel, I really do. I was once one of these people. I got made fun of all the time because I had no boobs, and then when I finally hit puberty I was too "fat" for people; and I was a size 4. I even got told once in high school that I got "the shit end of the stick" because someone thought I was cool but obviously couldn't be my friend because of our "popularity" difference. Like really, people like that baffle me. But I learned then that it is impossible to please everyone, so I think we need to start focusing on pleasing ourselves. If you are not happy with yourself or how you look, then only you can be the person that changes that.

I know some things come from health issues, or you try so hard and nothing changes. Well have you thought about changing your attitude? Or how you see yourself? Probably not. And it took me a while to even get to the point of changing my attitude. But I am going to let you in on a secret, confidence is the sexiest thing a person can wear. It is "major key", as the kids say. So I am gonna share a few tips with you on how I gained my confidence back. Some of them are little unorthodox, or might make you feel uncomfortable at first, but it is probably what you need.

1. Throw out those clothes that you love, but do not fit you anymore!

I know we all have to have a goal, but if you are trying to workout to get "skinny", I am telling you, buying a whole new outfit will feel so much better. #treatyoself

2. If you have a health problem, please stop googling your options and go see someone!

I know it may not be the easiest thing, but there are some places that will do free consultations and even a plan to get started will help.

3. If you can help it, stop eating fast food!

I know we all ball on a budget in our 20's, but that doesn't mean you should be feeding your body bad things. Plus, all the grease in those foods will not help with weight loss, and will cause some major breakouts.

4. Make sure you have a daily hygiene regime.

I know this is something that I shouldn't have to say, but if you are not regularly cleaning yourself, your body is not gonna feel nice to you.

5. Go buy a sexy pair of undergarments.

I don't care if you are a size 8 or XXXXL, go out and buy some sexy panties that make you feel good about yourself. Please do not worry about who is going to see them: these are for you. You need to feel sexy to yourself, and not anyone else.

6. Delete anyone on your social media that made you feel bad about yourself.

AND DON"T ADD THEM BACK TWO MONTHS LATER. I get it, we are all cyber stalkers making sure that we are doing better than the people that we didn't like or that made us feel bad about ourselves. If they don't make you feel like the best you, then you do not need them. Looking at those people, no matter how much better you think you are doing, it will only make you remember everything they did to hurt you. There is no worse progress killer than doing good until you see one of those people that told you that you weren't good enough. Please, say #byefelicia to those people. You do not need them to approve you.

7. Stop caking on makeup.

I am someone that wears makeup on a daily basis, so I am by no means telling you that you should not wear it. But wearing a ton of foundation is not good for your face or skin. It is meant to be a base, not a whole four layers of skin. I used to wear so much foundation it would wipe off on my clothes, but the more I had to cover up my skin the worse I felt. I felt like the real me wasn't good enough. So, I started taking better care of my skin and wearing makeup that accentuated the features I liked about myself, like my eyes and lips. There are also websites that show you how to accentuate the kind of features YOU have; frankly, those awesome make-up tutorials do not work for everyone. Learn what works for you.

8. If you aren't happy with your looks, change it.

Those clothes don't fit you the way you want? Go buy new ones. You aren't happy with the love handles you have? Go to the gym or go running in the morning. I know it doesn't sound simple, but it is. I am all about loving your body the way it is, but if you don't love it, and you have the power to change it, then why wouldn't you?

9.Do your hair, or make up. Wear a dress.

We all have those days where we just wake up and do not want to deal with the day. We throw our hair up, don't put on any mascara, put on sweats and we walk out the door with a blah attitude. I swear, the saying "look good, feel good" could not be more true. If you feel like blah, those are the days you need to make yourself look like the sexy beast that you are. I promise it will make you feel better when you look and see that gorgeous smile.

10. Now, remember those sexy panties I told you to get. Well, take a picture..

And I am not saying this so you can send these pictures to anyone for their satisfaction. This is so whenever you feel bad about yourself, YOU can look at it and remember YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.

**And sorry most of these memes say "women" this advice can apply to ANYONE, trust me get the sexy panties.

11. Stress less.

Most people feel bad cause they are already stressed out about something: a job, other people, etc. You need to do something each day that just lets you de-stress. Make a playlist of your favorite songs (all upbeat or happy) and have a solo dance party, read a book, do some simple yoga, take up kickboxing or go on that run. Anything that will take your mind of your stress for at least 20 minutes a day.

12. Dress for your body type.

They have all kinds of websites you can go one that tell you what kind of clothes will show off YOUR gorgeous figure. If you are not happy with how you look in the clothes you own, you should try this. Some of these sites even have links to stores for you there already.

I know what your thinking, are you trying to make me feel confident, or get me to be healthy? Well, both. Mind and body are two things that are so connected and most people do not realize it. Now, I am not saying do not enjoy a cheeseburger once in awhile, and I am not saying that you need to start doing this lifestyle all day everyday. I am saying maybe try it for a couple of days a week, try it for a whole week and then work it in to things that I am sure you already do that MAKE YOU HAPPY. I know once my body started feeling better, and I told myself where I wanted to be no matter what other people said, I started feeling better. And the more I worked and the more I gained progress, the better I felt. People started noticing a difference. But mainly,I started noticing. It didn't happen overnight and it took longer than two weeks, longer than a month—and it is still a work in progress—but it did work. Even if you do not try all of these things, or any of them, just start doing things that make you feel good. Remember, it is mind over matter, and your mind will feel better when you feel better with your body.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
