Fear is something that controls us. As children we thought that when we got older we would be brave and that fear would no longer exist. But now we’re older and we still fear things. As children we would ask our parents to check the closet or under the bed in case there was a monster. People would ask us in school what we were scared of people would say snakes and spiders.

Why is it when we get older our fears become more real. (I’m not saying snakes and spiders aren’t real, you can avoid them easily). You ask someone their fears they say something serious like, being alone or failure. But why is that? Why do we begin to see fear in a new way? I believe fear is good; it drives us. Fear is small doses drives us, it’s one of the many things that makes us human. Sometimes fear is crippling and it keeps you from achieving your dreams. People with fear of heights may never climb a mountain, skydive, or even see the top of the empire state building. People with fears of drowning my never experience the fun of diving and cannon balls in pools. People with the fear of being alone may never learn about themselves in a new way. People who fear failure will never try something risky.

We need to take our fears and face them head on. If we let fear control us, then we will never achieve our dreams. Sure fears should make us cautious and make us assess a situation before entering it head on. But if that fear of the unknown keeps us to scared and overly cautious we will never be who we wish to be. So why is fear so controlling? Why does it petrify us? Fear is created by your mind and most of the time there’s a reason you fear something. But that reason shouldn’t force you to hide to keep away from the world. The world is giant scary place with many dangerous elements and most of the time we can’t avoid it. With the world there will be failure and you might have to face your fears head on. The fact that you you know that the fear is there is the first part of overcoming it. Facing your fear will make you a stronger person. You must see your fear for what it is and let it know that you are not going to be controlled. Fear may rule your life now. But fear can be fought and sometimes when you fight your fear it’s amazing. So today go out in the world and do something new, something bold, something that you never thought you could do. Facing your fears is something everyone needs to do and as long as you’re being safe. Have fun with your life because when you get old do you want say you did nothing. Life is meant to be lived so go out and do some living.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
