Don’t be afraid of creepy crawlies. Be afraid of the creeps that crawl around on the internet. These monsters are talented at blending in with the crowd; they’re demons impersonating angels. In cyberspace, it’s safest to assume that no one can be trusted, for they catch the scent of overabundance of trust and begin to pull their unsuspecting victims in.
Don’t be afraid of failure. Be afraid of lessons never learned when you strive to avoid failure. Screw straight A’s achieved by stressful, sleepless nights. Accept your limits or accept the time that it will take to raise them. Fear the lack of personal growth that comes with staying within your comfort zone. Then follow every backward stumble with an understanding of your mistakes and a confident leap forward.

Don’t be afraid of “forever alone.” Be afraid of settling for “good enough.” Be afraid of never loving yourself enough to know what you deserve and who doesn’t deserve you. Holding on to toxic relationships to avoid being alone, you’ll feel the poison seeping in, making you wither while you watch others around you bloom in their self-made happiness.
Don’t be afraid of cellulite, wrinkles and imperfections. Be afraid of those who try to tell you that they’re not some of the most genuine and beautiful things about you. Be afraid of the brainwash that makes you believe that your body is a trash heap and not a temple. Remember that you should only change to make yourself happy, because the people pointing fingers have flaws of their own too.
Don’t be afraid of the dark. Be afraid of the darkness that is racism and greed that sets over society when words are twisted and lies are spread by the media. Don’t give in to the campaigns that are fueled by fear, hate, and blame — all dead end roads. Follow a leader, man or woman, who satiates your hunger for hope and peace and results. Not one who starves you of those emotions, claiming that the only means of security is to follow them and carry them to victory.
Don’t be afraid of the end of the world. It’s already begun. Be afraid of the ignorance and egocentrism that is poisoning our atmosphere and suppressing nature in a way that it was never meant to be. Fear can breed hopelessness or it can breed change. It is the force that tells us “something’s not right,” and it’s your choice to run and hide — or stand up and repair.
