I know this is going to sound crazy, but I was born and raised in Nashville. No, I did not move from another state. I have seen it back when it was just another city, then grow into what is now. Nashville is my home and a city I love.

People might see it as a bachelorette central and just country music, but there is so much more than just Broadway. I do enjoy what it is and so many stars had their start in Tootsies or the fact I can walk down the street and here music at every turn. Here are a few of my favorite things about Nashville:

1. Sports

I feel like this an obvious one. We have the Predators for a hockey team (seriously, go to a hockey game in Nashville before you die). You might see a celebrity or two at the game. The Titans football games are so much fun. High school football is a big deal (nothing like Texas football though) but there is something about them Friday night lights. We also have the Nashville Sounds baseball team. They just built a new stadium for the team as well.

2. The Thompson Hotel Rooftop Bar

Rooftop bars are all the rage downtown. Crazy Town is fun, but go on a busy night and you are packed like sardines with crazy drunks who can't stand up straight. The Valentine can be a hit or miss sometimes, depending on where the crowds are. FGL House will always have good music, but the line to get in is CRAZY long. The rooftop bar at the Thompson hotel will forever be my favorite rooftop bar. It can be a little crowded sometimes, but you have a beautiful view of the city. Sit with friends and enjoy your drink.

3. Yazoo

This is my absolute favorite brewery in Nashville. It is all made locally in the Gulch. The tap room is a fun place to hang with friends. Cool, local vibe radiate inside and are always busy. The best part is FREE PARKING! Also, you are a block from the main area of the gulch. If you really love breweries I suggest you try Rock Bottom on Broadway.

4. The Artwork

There is so much artwork in the city. The murals to the music on the street, it's everywhere. One of the more famous is the wings in the Gulch. You can find raining donuts and "I Believe in Nashville" in the city. Music is everywhere! You cannot go a day in the city without hearing a live performance. I don't have any suggestions of where the best music is, but just walk around downtown and you will find amazing talent fast!

5. Kung Fu Saloon

This is my favorite "fun" bar in the city. There are always young people looking for a good time there. Lawn games are outside, in the front with old arcade games inside. This is the best part, the bar has free skeet ball! Weeknights are defiantly more chill while weekends are packed with good music.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
