Yoga With Adriene

I love yoga. It is a great way to get flexible, build strong muscles, and destress. About a year ago I stumbled across a YouTube channel called Yoga With Adriene. Adriene uploads videos of yoga sequences every Wednesday, and I am constantly visiting her channel because there is such a wide variety of videos to enjoy. Here are my top ten favorite Yoga With Adriene videos (in no particular oder).

1. Yoga for Complete Beginners- 20 Minute Home Yoga Workout!

Adriene has 11 videos in a playlist called Yoga For Beginners. This is a great video to start with if you haven't done yoga in a while, or this is your first time trying it!

2. Morning Yoga- Gentle Morning Sequence

Adriene has 7 videos in a playlist named Morning Yoga Routines. This Gentle Morning Sequence is great for me because I like to ease slowly into my day, but she also has energizing sequences you can do if you are a morning person.

3. Yoga For Bedtime- 20 Minute Practice

I hate going to bed stiff. If you are someone like me who needs to stretch before falling asleep, this is a wonderful sequence to help you unwind, relax, and get sleepy at the end of a long day.

4. Yoga For Headaches

I get a crazy number of headaches. Most of them are tension headaches, which are accompanied by shoulder and neck pain. This video is very soothing and helps to relieve some of that stubborn pain.

5. Yoga For Back Pain

Like most people, I suffer from back pain from time to time. This video is awesome for stretching out your back. This is probably the video I watch most often (she also has separate videos to focus on specifically the upper or lower back) because it feels great and works wonders.

6. Yoga For The Winter Blues- Yoga for Depression

Adriene has 28 videos in a playlist called Yoga for Healing, which includes the video below and the three above. This is the playlist of hers that I use most often because there are so many great options. I definitely suffer from the winter blues, and this video is great at perking me up.

7. Quick Stress Fix- 5 Minute Sequence

This video is a fast and effective way to help get rid of stress and anxiety.

8. Yoga For Weight Loss- 40 Minute Fat Burning Yoga Workout!

Adriene has 8 videos in a playlist called Yoga For Weight Loss. This sequence is a great workout, and she also has videos that target specific parts of the body.

9. Head Stand Yoga Pose- How To Do a Headstand for Beginners

Adriene has 38 videos in a playlist named Foundations of Yoga. These videos teach how to do many different yoga poses. This headstand video is really effective in explaining how to get into the pose. Headstands look impressive, and they feel great too!

10. 30 Days of Yoga- Start Here

This is the first video in the 30 Days of Yoga Playlist. There is a new sequence to complete every day for 30 days. Everyone can participate in the 30 Days of Yoga experience, no matter what your level of experience with yoga is.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
