t's the most wonderful time of the year! Okay, maybe not so much. The weather in the Fargo/Moorhead area is so not Christmas-y this year. Yet, we will always make the best of it! What kind of Minnesota-nice people would we be if we didn't look on the bright side? Anyway, with finals week coming to a close, we have some free time to enjoy the holidays! Here is a list of my favorite holiday movies for you to watch when you find yourself inside on a cold night, snuggled up in blankets with hot chocolate! Enjoy!

It's A Wonderful Life (1946)

A classic holiday film.

Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas (1999)

I loved watching this one all the time as a kid!

A Christmas Story (1983)

This one is on TV 24-hours in a row on Christmas Day!

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

This might be one of my favorites to turn on while I'm wrapping presents.

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)

The original is always the best though.

Elf (2003)

This is the funniest holiday movie around! We always watched this one at school and Christmas parties!

Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas (1997)

If you liked the original movie, you'll surely enjoy this one too!

The Night Before Christmas (1993)

Because it's my all time go-to movie.

The Santa Clause (1994)

Another fantastic movie that warms your heart.

Home Alone (1990)

Here is another classic that will make you laugh and cry!

Miracle on 34th Street (1947)

Doesn't get much better than the original.

The Polar Express (2004)

My school went to this movie when it was in theaters! The music is amazing along with the animation!

White Christmas (1954)

If you love dancing and amazing singing, than this movie is for you! 10/10 recommend.

Christmas with the Kranks (2004)

This one will make you think twice about skipping Christmas this year.

Mickey's Christmas Carol (1983)

This version of the Charles Dickens novel will surely tug on those Disney heartstrings.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)

This one is so adorable!

Frosty the Snowman (1969)

Another cute cartoon!

Fred Claus (2007)

Because Vince Vaughn.

A Christmas Carol (1984)

The best version.

Jingle All the Way (1996)

This is another good family movie to watch this season!

I hope you enjoy these films this holiday season as much as I do! It's time to relax and savor the short winter break before hitting the books hard again spring semester! Wishing you all a wonderful finals week and winter break!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
