1. The atmosphere is electric.
There's nothing quite like watching a city watch October baseball for the first time all year. The crowd is going nuts, the city shuts down and the building is rocking. There is nothing like that.
2. Pitchers' duels.
The best third of the league has just reached the post season and most of them didn't get there on pure offense. Generally speaking, we get to see each team's ace go head to head. There is nothing more exciting than watching two guys pitch with the game on the line. Madison Bumgardner and Noah Syndergaard dueled over eight innings and allowed six hits between the two of them. that's spectacular suspense!
3. The moment when "It" happens.
We all have that special memory of when "it" happened. The final out, the deciding run, the crushing defeat, we all have an "it" moment and it is magical.
4. The strategy.
This one applies more to National League baseball than American League baseball but just the same, the strategy in October is totally different from the regular season. Imagine this, The Dodgers have the Nationals against the wall and the starting pitcher is throwing a gem. The Dodgers have the bases loaded but with two outs and their pitcher is coming to bat. He has a batting average of .100. What do you do? Do you get a pinch hitter and go for the runs and take out the pitcher from the game or do you leave him in and take your chances? Those are the moves that decide baseball games and we love October for it.
5. The quality.
This should go without saying, but I'm going to say it anyway, October is the best time for baseball. The best teams are playing each other and it is anyone's game. As a baseball fan, I am glued to my seat and I don't even think about watching anything else. Luke Cage can wait, I've got playoff baseball to watch.
