My 5 Favorite Things About Having A Job That I Actually Enjoy

In This Article:

Having a job is nothing fun; it's full of long shifts, irritated coworkers, and sometimes all the time, there are a few customers who never learned how to be nice to others. Even though it can be a pain missing out on fun stuff or having to do annoying tasks hour after hour, but there are a few perks about having a job that you actually enjoy. Below are five beneficial things work offers me.

1. Having a job gives me a schedule.

I'm the type of person who needs a schedule in order to stay productive. I love my bed and tend to stay in it all day when there's nothing required of me, so by having a work schedule, I relinquish my lazy ways and instead opt for a more effective and energetic attitude.

2. Working gives me something to do.

Summer can get pretty boring, especially when everyone around you has a job. Why not use up some of your free time while also getting paid?

3. Thankfully, I'm being paid for my services.

I will be the first person to admit that I have an online shopping addiction. When I see something I like, I seriously can't stop myself from buying it even though I don't have the funds to afford it. Thankfully, the job I have allows me to feed this addiction void of cards declining and angry parents.

4. I get to interact with all sorts of people.

Since I work at an outlet store, most of the people who visit the store tend to be foreign. It is such a cool experience to interact with people from all over the world and to hear their stories about where they are from and why they decided to visit Florida.

5. Finishing a shift gives me a sense of accomplishment.

There is nothing better than finishing a shift and clocking out. When I make my way out the front doors, I feel I am completely on top of the world and no one can get in my way. I typically work five-hour shifts but they can easily feel like ten-hour shifts. Completing a day of work, especially a busy and stressful one, makes me feel like I can do anything.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
