The one day commercials aren't trash

So I’ll admit, I’m one of those people who know nothing about football and just like the Super Bowl for the great commercials that come on. Their entertaining and actually make commercials worth the time when on any other day I just want to skip them. With that being said, here are some of my favorite Super Bowl commercials.

1. Doritos(2010)-Kid Slaps Man

Dating the mom is one thing, but how are you going to enter someone’s house and start eating their food without asking? My favorite part of the commercial is the guy trying to keep a straight face after the slap. We all know that he was crying on the inside.

2. Doritos(2012)-Slingshot Baby

When I first saw this commercial, the only thing I could say was…”Awwww.” Never underestimate the power of a baby and his slingshot!

3. M & M's(2013)-Anything for Love

All the red M & M wanted to do was to be loved! And I love how candy can play the piano when I struggled to play the recorder.

4. Heinz Ketchup(2016)-Wiener Stampede

All dogs are cute, but wiener dogs are definitely on the top of the list. Until this commercial, I never knew that condiments could be so interesting.

5. Coca Cola(2016)-Brotherly Love

The older brother did irritate me in the beginning, but he won me over when he stood up for his little brother. This commercial makes me happy and thirsty at the same time.

6. Kia(2017)-Melissa McCarthy Saving the World

Though I am not fascinated with cars, I do love humor and this commercial makes me laugh. Melissa McCarthy definitely deserves that car after all those risks she took to make a difference and for putting up with that sassy penguin.

7. Skittles(2017)-"Katy!"

Though there is no explanation as to why there is a beaver in her room and I still want to know why she is sharing, but the randomness is what makes it hilarious. That boy must be really desperate and in love if he's willing to give up his Skittles like that. It’s like Romeo and Juliet except there are less words and Juliet is not alone.

8. Doritos Blaze & Mtn Dew Ice(2018)-Lip Sync Battle

Never knew I needed a lip sync battle between Peter Dinklage and Morgan Freeman until I saw this. Missy Elliot and Busta Rhymes make great coaches. I was expecting Rupaul to pop up and slay them all, but it’s still a great commercial.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
