No matter what your mood is, you won't have to go very far to find something good.

My Favorite Spots To Eat On Syracuse University Campus
Jamie Lustig

To all my fellow students and foodies who are looking to take a break from dining hall food and ramen, I have compiled a list of the best food on campus for all types of moods. Whether you are heading down to Kimmel late at night or strolling through Marshall Street during the day, these yummy meals and snacks will definitely hit the spot!

If you are trying to be healthy…

Poke Bowls at Bleu Monkey

If you are in a rush, but still want something healthy, Bleu Monkey is your spot! You can choose from white rice, brown rice, zucchini noodles, or romaine lettuce as your base, 1-3 types of protein, and as many toppings as you'd like.

King David's

A lot of people don't know about the hidden gem that is King David's. That is because in 2010, it was forced to move upstairs when Chipotle came to Marshall Street. They serve Greek and Middle Eastern food, with lots of healthy options. I like to get an order of falafel and one of their salads.

Strong Hearts

If you are vegan or just enjoy vegan food like me, Strong Hearts is your best bet. I mostly go for their milkshakes and smoothies, which are AMAZING, but they have an eclectic menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options which are very good as well. My favorite milkshake is the John Brown, which is basically cookies and cream, but I have tried many flavors and they are all so good, you wouldn't even know they are vegan. I also highly recommend trying their cookies if you are in the mood for a sweet treat.

If you want something cheesy and delicious...

Quesadillas at Schine

For some reason, Schine quesadillas are no ordinary quesadillas. I personally get mine with chicken and extra salsa.

Chipotle

Chipotle is a classic and it's always good, but beware of long lines during dinner rush hours. I suggest ordering ahead on Tapingo so you can skip the line and save yourself what could be a solid 30-60 minutes.

Calzones at Acropolis

If you are a true cheese lover, Acropolis plain calzones are perfect for you. They are quite heavy, but so worth it.

If you want some late night grub...

Insomnia Cookies

Everyone gains the freshman 15 in different ways. Mine was a result of Insomnia's amazing cookies. On a cold Syracuse night, nothing is better than one of their warm S'mores cookies.

Calios

Calios has something for everyone, with the longest menu of different types of calzones that I have ever seen. It is open until 4 am every day of the week, making it a popular late night spot. My favorites are the Mac N' Cheese and BBQ Chicken flavors.

Kimmel

Kimmel Food Court has lots of options ranging from Mexican food at Queso's to milkshakes at Haagen Dazs. I typically opt for the chicken tenders and waffles fries at Trio's.

If you want something to sip on…

Cafe Kubal

In the wintertime, a chai tea latte from Kubal will warm you right up. I think it's much better than Starbucks (sorry to the Starbucks lovers).

Unique Tea House

Unique Tea house is popular for its bubble tea, which is delicious. I also love their coconut smoothies.

I hope you find these suggestions helpful! Again, they are just my personal opinions and I only mentioned the places that I frequently visit. Us Syracuse University students are spoiled with so many great options of places to eat on campus and I am always searching for the best spot to try next. No matter how you are feeling, I can guarantee that you will find something that will satisfy you.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
