Everyone has one or two CD's or vinyl that they can listen to from front to back and be totally okay with it. Music is one of the best ways to relieve stress, and there are some CDs that I think do a better job than others for sure. Here are three of my favorite albums to listen to before bed or on morning car rides, or really any time you just want soft music with folk and or indie influences to vibe to.
Moenie and Kitchie by Gregory and the Hawk is brilliant. Whenever I'm listening to anything from that album I inevitably crave roasted marshmallows, it just sounds like the perfect autumn bonfire music. Meredith Godreau's voice is delicate and fluttery, and it compliments the music in a way that I haven't really heard any other band do quite the same. It's honestly addicting to listen to for me.
Suburban Nature by Sarah Jaffe is one of my favorite albums of all time. Every song on there is amazing to me, I've basically sub-mindedly taken the liberty of memorizing all the lyrics to every song as well. Suburban Nature is one of those albums that you'd expect to hear in a coffee shop or a small cafe. The singer songwriter's voice can be raspy as well as delicate. Her guitar strumming can be aggressive as well as soft. I think Sarah Jaffe is one of the few people who has the genre of Singer Songwriter wrapped around her finger. I absolutely adore her and have for years.
We Were Here by Joshua Radin is one of those albums that haunts you after listening to it in a way. Radin's voice is one of my favorites, he has the whisper singing thing down really well, and it's extremely calming, especially in the first song of the album Sundrenched World. We Were Here is an album that I'd want to listen to during a rainy day with a cup of coffee. It's a lovely album, and I honestly can't get enough of it.
I hope these suggestions helped! Music is life!
