Back in 2015, ABC Family, now known as FreeForm, aired a television show called Stitchers. For those who have not heard of this show, here is a small summary.
The show follows Kristen Clark, who has Temporal Dysplasia (a fictional an uncommon medical condition in this show's universe). Temporal Dysplasia causes the person to not feel the passage of time, and only realizes exactly how much time has passed by mathematics and meticulous observation (pretty cool if you ask me). Due to this condition Kristen has, she is recruited by a government agency (NSA) to 'stitch' into the memories of recently deceased to investigate murders/mysteries that would otherwise go unsolved.
This whole idea was so strong and eye catching that I followed this show for a whole season. I would eventually fall in love with Kirsten and Cameron's (a neuroscientist who assist Kristen in the stitches) relationship and eventually, just like the rest of the fandom, I would start shipping Kamsten.
Kamsten, their ship name, was unlike any other relationship on T.V. that I love. The two met as little kids in a hospital when Kristen's mother was 'dying' and Cameron has heart surgery.
(There's a whole scene about that and ends up playing a part in the season 1 finale, which made me ball my eyes out.)
So, they met as children and see each other and start working together, without any memory of that meeting happening.
Over Season 1, the two grow so much closer as a pair and I'm head over heels in love with them. Then the show throws us the curveball of Cameron stopping his heart to allow Kirsten to retrieve the memory she has of her mother in hospital to get some answers. It ends with his fate unknown. I'm bawling and everything.
In the long run, by Season 3, the two end up together as an item (spoiler Cameron lives). But this is where I start getting upset at the whole show. We, as the viewers, are so excited because the two are together, we are seeing Kristen come over her condition, getting the answers we want of what happen to her mother and who caused her mother to be in a deep slumber.
We get all these answers, but in the process of it, it hurts Kirsten to where she does not remember anything, or so we think. As we are all bawling because Kristen does not remember Cameron and the relationship is dead and we see how crushed he [Cameron] is by this, Kristen comes in and talks to him.
Now, this maybe me looking too much into this, but, Kristen comes and 'introduces' herself to Cameron. She then states that she remembers meeting as children and asks how his heart is after the surgery; his response kills the whole fandom. I see this as a little statement to hint Cameron that she remembers and that something, or someone is controlling her to cause this pain.
As I finished the 3rd season, I immediately look up when season 4 is to be released because I WANT ANWSERS!
I was then faced with some horrible news, FreeForm would not renew a season 4. I was heartbroken; a show I followed for 3 years was just over with no answers along with the two I loved together apart and both heart broken.
Not having answers is the worst thing ever to have with a show like this. There was no solution to such a complex plot. If anything, there are a lot more questions that have to be answered. This dilemma is one of the worse things a television show could ever do.
Stitchers is a show I highly recommend, even though there is no complete ending, although people are trying to get FreeForm to push for a season 4.
