Best things About Fall
Chinese Medicine and Fall

We're back to school and slowing falling back into a routine for the semester. September is quickly passing us, and everything is falling into place. One thing we are missing though, is fall weather! Don't get me wrong, I love summer and the pool and being tan, but something about being back on campus just makes me want to do all things fall.

For starters, I'm sick of walking to class in 90 degree weather. Shorts and tanks were cute for the summer but I'm beyond ready for jeans, flannels and cute boots. I get sick of my wardrobe easily and it's definitely time for that fall transition. I want cute ponchos, big sweat shirts and legging weather. I always tend to jump the gun and try to dress in fall clothes, and I end up sweating on my walk to class, turns out to not be that cute of a look.

I always love wearing black and dark colors in general, so fall is definitely an exciting time for me since it means I won't have to try and wear bright, happy colors like I do in the summer. I also love the fact that I can transition my nail color from bright pinks and blues, to more basic colors like blacks and nudes or oranges and reds.

Beyond cute clothing, I'm ready for chai's, the infamous pumpkin spice latte, and staying inside snuggled up on the couch with a comfy blanket and a scary movie. Bonfires and s'mores are also a huge part of fall and that makes my heart so happy.

Don't forget the smells of fall. One of my favorite parts about fall approaching is walking into Bath and Body Works and being hit with the smell of pumpkin, cinnamon, and apples all rolled into one.

The changing leaves and the scenery that fall brings also make me so excited. it's also when football season starts, and who doesn't love football? Besides that, everything is so Instagram worthy. From the leaves, to your fall flavored drink, down to your #ootd, everything is more instagramable in the fall.

Also the switch over to hot coffee makes me happy. Nothing can't be fixed with a hot cup of coffee or tea to start your morning. Fall also means that Halloween is approaching, and costumes are exciting to start thinking about. Don't forget about cute fall decorations too, they really make the season and get everyone into the fall spirit!

As I'm sitting here writing this article in air conditioning, looking outside at the everlasting 90 degree weather, I'm really hoping fall weather begins to approach. Until then, my boots, PSLs, and flannels will have to wait, while my marshmallow cinnamon candle is already burning.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
