My Favorite Moments From "The Hills"
Anna Rankin

The Hills celebrated its 10 year anniversary last Tuesday. I loved watching this show back in the day. I was always so intrigued by the life of these four girls in LA, and of course would constantly go back and forth on the whole "scripted or not scripted" argument. Personally, I'm a firm believer that a good majority of what was seen was based in reality and then there were some liberties taken along the way. In honor of the occasion, I thought I would share some of my personal favorite moments from the series as well as some 'under the radar' moments that stuck out to me that I thought I would bring out of the shadows. Hope you all enjoy!

1. Kristin Ess was LC's hair stylist even back in the day.

So if you're one of those major LC fans, you've noticed Kristin is not just her hair stylist, but also one of her close friends that she claims she's "obsessed" with. Kristin can be spotted doing her hair in the Season 2 episode "New Year, New Friends" for the New Years Eve party they were going to that night.

2. The time Lauren got asked out by one of the models from a Teen Vogue shoot.

Wasn't his name Gavin? This guy was so sweet. He seemed kind of like your standard California guy, and I was kind of pulling for him (I was against Brody at the time), simply because he seemed really sincere. However, it became apparent that he was a little too different for Lauren when he told her that he goes camping. Based on that episode "Grin and Bear it" from Laguna, I don't think Lauren was having any of that.

3. "Get out of my car"

Oh, Spencer. Always so dramatic. Not only did I think this moment was funny at the time but when the government shut down a few years ago, Spencer actually tweeted this response to say, "People ask what I'd say to those responsible for the government shutdown. My answer is... get out of my car."

4. The iconic "You know what you did!"

Of course I can't leave out the moment that Heidi betrayed Lauren and then continued to act innocent. This moment made a big mark because it set the stage for Season 3 and lead to their friendship ending. Hard to top such a dramatic moment like two girls yelling at each other outside of Les Deux.

5. That time they had to put the breaks on a fashion show for Hillary Duff.

Lauren and Whitney were working for a Teen Vogue Fashion show and were all ready to start the show when Hillary comes waltzing in. I'm a big Hillary Duff fan, so I had to highlight this moment.

6. The love... square?

Then there was the time that Lauren went on a New Years date with Derek Theler. At the time, he wasn't a big deal but now he plays Danny Wheeler on Baby Daddy. What is so funny is that years after this date happened, Stephen Colletti started dating co-star Chelsea Kane while working together on One Tree Hill. Then when that ended, Chelsea and Derek dated during the first season of Baby Daddy. Funny how things come around sometimes.

7. The time Lauren went through Brody's phone.

Even if this "relationship" was admittedly "for the screen", you have to admit seeing Lauren bust Brody on all of his 'ladies' was funny. All the way from "blonde hottie" to "Bridgette-wanna-bang", Lauren knew how to call it like it was even in a classy way.

8. When Lady Gaga made an appearance.

At the time, she was just an artist that was 'up and coming', but her outfit broke or suddenly wouldn't zip? Lauren and Whitney came to the rescue and helped her get the zipper all the way up. It's funny to hear Kelly Cutrone talk about this "unknown singer" by the name of Gaga.

9. The time Kristin came back.

Reading about this scene, it's interesting because both of them were locked in different rooms in order to be kept from seeing each other. Then when Lauren did see Kristin, she had a very honest reaction to why things were happening the way that they did. Personally that's something I appreciate about how they told the story. Because they wanted to show real moments, they had to create the reality at times.

10. The time Whitney fell on Good Morning America!

Poor Whitney. Honestly, a terribly embarrassing thing to experience in front of America, but it was hilarious for the viewers. I'm sure she can probably laugh about it now, but the poor girl went straight down in no time. It's a good thing that dress looked gorgeous.

11. The infamous "date with the past".

Oh Stephen. He was definitely my pick for Lauren. Even though he had some growing up to do, I was always hoping things would turn out for them. Though William Tell is a much better choice, I have to admit this is one of my favorite episodes. I once saw LO Bosworth tell MTV in an interview that Stephen called her one night (filled with a few drinks) to say that he was still in love with Lauren...which made this scene all the more fun to watch.

Hope you've enjoyed my look back to my favorite "Hills" moments. What were some of your favorite moments?

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.

The dynamics of any friend group are usually determined by the personalities which make it up. Chances are, while personalities may overlap, each person in your friend group holds his or her own place. It is the differences which bring the groups together and keep them functioning. No matter how functionally dysfunctional your friend group may be, if you're anything like me, you feel absolutely blessed to have found such a wonderful group of humans to call "your people." Here is what your friend group might look like if they were Disney princesses (and that wasn't just a thing you all pretended in your heads):
