Longwood University, founded in 1839, is rich in history and school spirit. With over 30 diverse buildings (and still expanding), each student is destined to fall in love with at least one. Whether it's in the grand Rotunda of Ruffner Hall, the soft golden velvet seats of Jarman Auditorium, the inviting food court in the Lankford Student Union, or the state-of-the-art Health and Fitness Center, there's something for everyone on campus to enjoy and admire. Everyone has that special spot that they love to hang out, do homework, or take some alone time in, and here is what your favorite building on campus says about you.

Greenwood Library

You're extremely serious about your studies and the closer you are to the resources, the better you will study and learn. It is also possible that you are required to spend time in the library for your Greek organization or sports team. Or, if you are like me, you just like to people watch on Brock Commons from the comfort of the children's literature section.

Bedford Hall

You are artsy and you know it. Lucky you, you have one of the nicest buildings on campus to learn in! (Also, the only building in which you can sunbathe).

Hull Education Center

Unless you're an education major, there's a good chance that you've never been in this building. If this is your favorite building, you're definitely an education major, which makes you one of the most caring and patient people on this campus. Go you!

Hiner Hall

If your favorite building is Hiner, you don't need a fancy new building to be happy. It's about the little things in life, and the swivel seats in Hiner 201 and 203 are enough to satisfy you.

Willett Hall

You LIVE for basketball season and Lancer Pants is probably your #ManCrushMonday every week. You might even have a countdown to basketball season on your calendar, and you are most definitely a Lancer Lunatic.

Wygal Hall

You love music and your appreciation for the finer things in life are far more advanced than many others. You log many hours in this building, which increases your love for the... less than new building.

Health and Fitness Center

One of the most popular spots on campus, you are all about being seen. If people can see you while you're flexing with free weights, even better. Fitness is very important to you, too.

French Hall

If your favorite building is French, you have big dreams outside of the tiny town of Farmville. Everything is an opportunity to build your resume and get one step closer to that goal of being in broadcasting. Those who aren't communications majors are truly missing out on the beauty that is French's million dollar studio.

Ruffner Hall

You fully appreciate the history of Longwood University and feel spiritually connected to Joanie on the Stone-y. You could sit around the Rotunda for hours, doing homework or just chatting with the people around you. There's also a good chance that you're a legacy student.

It's hard not to love Longwood University, and the amazing architecture and stories that go with it just add to the admiration that students and alumni feel. Which is your favorite building?

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

Yes, the math major is doing a math-related post. What are the odds? I'll have to calculate it later. Many people have probably learned about the Fibonacci sequence in their high school math classes. However, I thought I would just refresh everyone's memories and show how math can be beautiful and apply to physical things everywhere around us with stunning examples.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
