Ah, the holidays. That glorious time of year where people suddenly become more family oriented, and somehow richer -- thank you, credit cards. It's also the time of year when you will be invited to one or more holiday themed parties; congratulations if it's the later, or my sincerest condolences -- depending on how you feel about social interaction.
While these get-togethers will vary in almost everything, the one thing they will most likely have in common is the drink menu. I mean, you can't really have the holidays without eggnog, hot chocolate, and alcohol, right?
Are you traditional, a child at heart, bold, or heartbroken? Well, you can check out the drink options bellow and make an educated guess. Disclaimer: the following list is in no way shape or form supposed to be the guide you judge all people or yourself by, but I'm just saying it could be.
Eggnog.
The most controversial of all the holiday drinks. There really is not a spectrum for this, people either love it or hate it. I am part of the lucky group who get to enjoy this delicious nectar of the gods every year. If you too have a love for the 'nog, you're a traditionalist. You like your Christmas like you like your eggnog: Cold, white, and once a year. You know exactly what to expect with every sip, so why should the holidays be any different?
Hot chocolate.
There is not really much of a debate on this being one of the reasons to have cold weather. It doesn't get much better than having your heart warmed by a steaming cup of chocolate. If this is your go-to, then you're a kid at heart (or just cold). You haven't forgotten that time way back when your parents wouldn't let you have coffee, so hot chocolate was your only option. Yeah, I don't remember that either, but it sounded nice #teamcoffee #additction.
Shots.
Not every party will have these, but if you end up at one that does, you have all the luck. Depending on whether or not your a first-year college student or a year older, this drink will be met with either enthusiasm or pure dread. If shots are your thing, then you are a bold one. You take your shots like you deal with people -- straight up. There's no mincing your words. If you like someone, they're going to know it. If you don't like someone, you won't waste time being two-faced. You're bold and you're proud!
Half a bottle of tequila.
Love is dead, and the holidays suck. This one I feel is pretty self-explanatory.
The holidays are a beautiful, crazy time of year when people from all walks of life can come together and drink; whether or not that's the traditional eggnog or the sorrow-drowning tequila depends on the party.
In the end, remember to drink responsibly, that the holidays won't last forever -- oh, and they'll be back again next year!
Good luck and Happy Holidays.
