Favorite 10 Coffee Shops In Omaha

If you know anything about me, you would probably know that one of my absolute favorite hobbies is finding cute coffee shops and restaurants. I love the sense of adventure that comes along with going off the beaten path, plus you get the chance to connect with some amazing local owners and fellow coffee aficionados as well.

Over the past couple of years, I have had the chance to scope out and visit the majority of coffee shops that Omaha has to offer. All of the $5 lattes and sleepless nights due to the amount of caffeine I had consumed that day have all been worth it, because it has helped me to finally find the absolute best “Cup of Jo”. The following list of coffee shops were my favorite in terms of quality, price, service, atmosphere, and of course taste.

I hope that you enjoy these shops as much as I have, and that you find them to be an inspiring space to do anything from studying, grabbing a quick croissant, holding a business meeting or catching up with an old friend. Sure, the coffee is without a doubt extraordinary— but the atmosphere of these 10 locations is what really made me fall in love with them.

1. Aromas + Bliss

Recommended Menu Item: Iced Almond Milk Latte, and the Macarons

What it’s known for: Outdoor patio, large interior with various tables and couches for chatting or doing work, also connected to their sister store Bliss- which is a bakery and sources all of the coffee shop’s pastries.

2. Beansmith Coffee Roasters

Recommended Menu Item: Expresso, or a Flat White

What it’s known for: Bright open windows in the front that are perfect to sit by while enjoying your cup of coffee, the staff are also really nice and helpful.

3. Crane Coffee

Recommended Menu Item: Matcha Latte, or any flavor of Cafredo (they use homemade whipped cream!)

What it’s known for: this coffeeshop is not necessarily located in the urban area of Omaha, but the couple extra minutes it takes to get there are totally worth it. It’s bright and open, and a great place to study! The staff are welcoming, and honestly you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

4. Urban Abbey

Recommended Menu Item: Soy Latte

What it’s known for: this cute little shop is surprisingly a church as well! They hold study groups throughout the week, as well as mass on Sundays. It also holds a small library of books that you can browse at or purchase, so you are sure to never get bored!

5. Caffeine Dreams

Recommended Menu Item: normal black roast coffee of the day

What it’s known for: the numerous amounts of board games that you can play while you are there, the quotes in the bathroom (like the ones in the picture below), and the yummy vegan baked goods.

6. No More Empty Cups

Recommended Menu Item: Cappuccino with Almond Milk

What it’s known for: the bright, open atmosphere and huge menu to choose from! They also serve breakfast and lunch food, so its a great place to go when meeting with friends.

7. Blue Line Coffee

Recommended Menu Item: Chai Tea

What it’s known for: They have multiple locations in some prime spots, including downtown next to Urban Outfitters, or in Dundee. They offer a large variety of coffee and tea drinks, so you can always try something new when you go— or stick to a classic favorite!

8. Archetype Coffee

Recommended Menu Item: The classic Americano, or if you are feeling adventurous I would definitely give the Nitro Brew a try

What it’s known for: This modern shop located in the Blackstone District is a must-visit! The quality and care that they put into each cup of coffee makes it some of the best I've ever tasted. This shop is good for meeting with friends or enjoying a nice conversation, but probably not the best for studying because the seating is pretty limited.

9. Omaha Bicycle Co.

Recommended Menu Item: I’ve only gotten their Ginger Chai Tea, and it was delicious! Such a fun mix of flavors.

What it’s known for: It’s half coffeeshop/ half bike store! How cool is that!? The atmosphere alone makes this place a must-see, but the open seating and friendly staff will keep you coming back time after time.

10. The Tea Smith

Okay, so this last one isn't technically coffee, but I just couldn't leave it off of the list.

Recommended Menu Item: Any of the bubble teas are amazing!

What it’s known for: If you are looking to switch up your coffee routine, the Tea Smith a great alternative. They have lots of options to choose from, and the staff are super helpful in explaining the different kinds of items on their menu.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
