Everyone loves a good Christmas movie. You can't tell me that sitting down and watching a classic Christmas tale with your family doesn't warm your heart. I still, after all these years, stay up late with my dad and watch old classics in the living room.
As I did for Halloween, here are my top five favorite Christmas movies that you should check out this holiday season.
5. Elf
This movie is not only one of my favorites to watch during the month of December, but it is definitely a comedy classic. There are so many one-liners that I find myself quoting this movie all year round. "Bye Buddy! Hope you find your dad!"
4. Santa Claus is Coming to Town
This movie is one of the older ones but I still love it. I think the classic tale of Santa Claus will always get me in the Christmas spirit. This is one of the first Christmas movies I can remember watching growing up and it still manages to be one of my all time favorites.
3. The Polar Express
I don't ever remember crying over a Christmas movie like I do when I watch this one. The Polar Express carries such a strong message that people of all ages can relate to. "This bell is a wonderful symbol of the spirit of Christmas, as am I. Just remember, the true spirit of Christmas lies in your heart."
2. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)
I know most people prefer the remake of this movie with Jim Carrey but personally, I think the original is the better version. Because it is a cartoon, it appeals more to a younger audience but I don't think the message or story is any different. This is another slight tear-jerker for me. "Welcome, Christmas, bring your cheer. Cheer to all Whos far and near. Christmas Day is in our grasp, so long as we have hands to clasp. Christmas Day will always be just as long as we have. Welcome Christmas while we stand, heart to heart, and hand in hand."
1. The Nightmare Before Christmas
I find it funny and ironic that my favorite Halloween movie is also my favorite Christmas Movie. The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of the only movies I can watch during both seasons. Personally, I think this movie is a cinematic masterpiece and is highly underrated. The idea behind the story is brilliant and the fact that it's a stop-motion film still boggles my mind.
