Have you ever been at the beach? Have you ever gotten bored of being sunburned and looked around at the other people? Have you ever seen a "larger" woman in a bikini or a bathing suit that you thought was inappropriate? If you answered yes to the above questions, have we got the product for you! Introducing: Mind Your Own Business.
Women have a hard enough time existing in a world where they are constantly judged. If you like to take the lead, then you're bossy. If your kid is crying, you're a bad mother. If you enjoy having sex, you're a whore. If you don't have sex, you're a prude. And on and on, forever, Amen. A fat woman will be judged even more and made fun of for how she breathes, eats, dresses, sits, etc. She will be called whale, lardy, chunky, and all manner of terrible weight-based insults. None of this is more evident than when she is on a beach and wearing a bathing suit.
Bathing suits cover a great deal less skin than everyday wear. They can be one or two-pieces, low-cut, and have funky straps or cutouts. They come in all manner of colors and patterns. However, a lot of people think that larger women should only wear dark, slimming one pieces. Or that they should not wear a bathing suit at all. After all, doesn't it send a bad message to The Children when they see a woman with fat rolls enjoying her body?
Everyone who wants to enjoy the beach or pool deserves to be comfortable while doing so. One-pieces aren't particularly comfortable or practical. You have to take the whole thing off to go to the bathroom. When you get wet, you have one solid piece of fabric clinging to your skin. Some people enjoy wearing one-pieces, and that's perfectly fine! But it shouldn't be the only "acceptable" option for women larger than a size six. Women should be able to wear whatever they want without fear of being made fun of.
Here is a radical notion: Fat women know that they are fat. They don't need you to tell them that. Speaking with friends and from personal experience, I know what it's like to go out in a bathing suit that you aren't totally sure about. Maybe your stretch marks on display. Maybe your hips hang over the side of your bottoms. Maybe you can see all the extra jiggly arm bits that a t-shirt normally hides. Women know all of these things and have chosen to go out anyways. If a stranger makes remarks about their weight, it's horrible. All that self-confidence is dashed and women are less likely to try a cute bikini again. It is demoralizing.
What should you do if you see a fat woman in a bikini and you really don't like how she looks? Mind. Your. Own. Business. It takes exactly zero muscles to not be a jerk. If you see a fat woman in a super cute bathing suit? Go up to her and tell her how cute it is on her! It truly is a wonderful confidence boost and validates her for choosing to wear whatever she wants to wear.
If you are a fat woman and you think that you can't pull off a bikini with confidence and flair? Take your body and put it on a beach. Boom! You have a perfect beach body.
