To me, there is something so interesting about the fact that fashion from each decade will eventually make a comeback and be reinvented into a more modern style. When I think about my typical go-to outfit, a pair of high wasted bottoms, a crop top, and maybe a pair of Converse sneakers comes to mind. When I look at pictures of my mom from when she was younger, she is wearing that exact outfit: high wasted bottoms, a crop top, and a pair of Converse. It's such a cool thought knowing that we share such similar fashions that our ancestors wore many, many years ago. Here's a look at how fashion reoccurs through the decades.

  • The 1920's

When I think about the Roaring 20's, the first thing that comes to my mind is the flapper-style dress. It's flashy, chic, and totally something that needed to be brought back to today's fashion.

  • The 1930's

Although this was the decade of the Great Depression, you would never be able to tell by looking in some of these women's closets. Fur was very popular, just like it is now, along with dresses that went past the knee in length but stopped before reaching the ankle, exactly like the midi-style dresses that you see in stores today.

  • The 1940's

Squared shoulders, narrow hips, and button up dresses were basically what the 40's were all about. The clothing was designed to give women the perfect hour-glass figure, which still stands true in a lot of the clothing you see today.

  • The 1950's

The 50's was all about excessive fabric, as well as fabulous collars and necklines. This is the decade to thank for those very feminine dresses we see today with the cinched-in waistlines and full skirts, as well as the peter-pan collars on our dresses and blouses.

  • The 1960's

One word to describe this decade in a nut shell is Flower Power. Music festivals such as Coachella are where you'll see many people wearing "hippie" and "flower child" outfits inspired by this era. Bell-bottom pants and long-sleeved dresses with the wide arms are also a current trend influenced by the 60's.

  • The 1970's

Culottes were very popular in the 70's, and have surprisingly made a huge comeback. It was expected that pants were just a fad, but seeing celebrities like Rihanna and Kendall Jenner pick up this trend, it seems they're here to stay for a while.

  • The 1980's

So much of today's fashion is influenced by the 80's. High-waist pants, leggings, over-sized sweaters, off-the-shoulder shirts, sequins, boots and lots of funky jewelry are just some of the many different trends this decade has inspired to make a comeback.

  • The 1990's

Wrap your plaid button-up shirt around the waist of your denim overalls and complete the look with a pair of Dr. Martens for the perfect 90's grunge look, which has made it's return over the last few years.

  • The Early 2000's

It's time to bring out those choker necklaces from storage that we used to wear in elementary school, because they're back! They now come in many different styles, so you can dress them up or dress them down depending on the occasion.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
