With summer on the horizon, it's difficult for us to stay on trend with the fashion world. When it's 85 degrees and humid, it's much easier to throw on a pair of gym shorts and a tank top instead of looking for an outfit that is both stylish and won't make us feel like we passed through the seventh gate of hell. It's also hard to find a weather appropriate work outfit when it's sweltering outside but the office air-conditioning is blasting. The summer fashion forecast is looking sunny, and I'm going to be your meteorologist.

Our forecast is calling for fringe, patchwork denim, one piece swimsuits and summer white.

Festival wear is all the rage—especially since summer begins festival season. Fringe is one of the more versatile festival trends. If you are looking for casual wear, this is a great one. There are endless options between shoes, shorts, dresses and tops. A fringe pair of shorts or sandals are a great start to this trend. When it comes to wearing fringe to work, you can incorporate it by wearing a fringe necklace or fringe accented pumps.

Patchwork denim could be considered one of the trickier trends hitting the market. However, with the right confidence, anyone can rock it. Many of the pieces are denim jeans. They come in different styles and price ranges. If you are interested in trying something other than a pair of jeans, there are plenty of other options including tops, skirts, dresses and accessories. But be careful with wearing denim on denim. You don't want to end up looking like Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake circa 2001.

One piece swimsuits are making a comeback! This is a trend that anyone and everyone can try! There are so many different styles and options when it comes to one piece bathing suits. There are ones that are very revealing, as a bikini would be, and then there are more modest options. Due to the plethora of options, there is something out there for everyone. When choosing a one piece, remember to think about the tan lines the suit will leave.

The color white used to be a summer color associated with the "no white after labor day" rule. Although that rule is considered obsolete by some fashion guru's, white is still the most popular color to wear during the summer months. This summer will be no exception. If you are looking for something to wear to work, this is a great trend to try. Throw on a white shift dress and a pair of pumps and you are good to go. If you work in a more casual environment, a pair of white linen pants are a great way to beat the heat. This trend can easily be dressed down into casual wear by wearing white shorts, a lace-up top and some Converse.

If you are unsure of any of these trends, start small. Try something like using a fringe key fob or all white accessories. If you end up loving that, then move on to bigger statement pieces. These trends are not going anywhere anytime soon, so feel free to invest some money in pieces that you really like.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
