The term vanity in the dictionary is defined as "excessive pride in or admiration of one's own appearance or achievements." It comes to no surprise that going to school here in Charleston, South Carolina that looks hold a high place in males and females in everyday life. Now, before all you southern charmers come after me let me just state that this doesn't apply to everyone. However, to the majority of you, it does. Here are 6 ways you know you're in Vanity City, also known as Charleston:
1. Maintaining the Perfect Hair
From no dead ends, the perfect layers and flawless highlights, everyone in Charleston aims to have priceless locks. These high-end looks can be all yours if you're ready to dig deep in your wallet. Hair treatments on King st. can easily go up to $500.
2. Perfectly manicured nails
The majority of people always seem to have the perfect nails. From classic french manicure to what the hot color of the season may be, females don't let their nails go unnoticed.
3. Brunch
Brunch is a staple affair in the south. Every Sunday, people walk over to high-end restaurants to showcase their new Lilly Pulitzer dresses and oversized sun hats and bask in the warm sun sipping their mimosas.
4. Sweatpants are the Devil
There should be only two reasons as to why a southern lady is wearing sweatpants: she's going to the gym or nothing fits her.
5. Guys wear short-shorts
It seems like every guy in the South wears the same above the knee khaki shorts. Hey, more power to you if you can pull it off.
6. Preppy everything
Think country club attire with a splash of Lilly Pulitzer. That's Charleston for you.
