what was the reason the Giants released Cruz

If you haven’t heard already, the New York Giants have released veteran wide receiver Victor Cruz. And I get it. I get that he was owed a lot of money, and he had a poor year statistically, yet this is still hard for me to comprehend. And I guess it’s because of what Cruz means to me and really what he means to the Giants franchise. And I think that one of the problems is that people forget what Cruz really was. When you mention his name now, people think of the injury. But before the injury, Cruz was one of the Greatest receivers in Giants history. He was Odell Beckham before Odell Beckham. How do you just let a guy like that go?

Sure Cruz had his struggles this year, but where they bad enough to warrant an outright release? Or the better question would be, what did they expect to get out of him with that awful offensive line of theirs? Think of it like this, we all know the offensive line for the Giants was terrible this year. when you have a bad offensive line, you have to get the ball out quickly. Obviously your first look is Odell Beckham. Your second look is Sterling Shepard in the slot, and Cruz is your third look. With that offensive line, they never had time to get to their third look. Maybe all they care about are stats.

Cruz did only have just under 600 receiving yards this year. not a very impressive number. Although Shepard only had just over 600 yards. And despite Beckham’s 1300 yards this year, if you watched the games you know he had an awful season. The stats just look good because he had an incredible amount of 60 yard touchdowns where he basically just caught a five-yard pass and outran everyone else. So, the stats can’t be the reason they let him go, right?

Well maybe it was the inconsistency. There were a few games where he didn’t have a catch. There was even a game where he didn’t have a target. But is that really his fault. He can only run the routes, if they don’t throw the ball to him that’s not his fault. At least he didn’t drop a ton of passes.

In terms of reasons to let him go, I can’t find one that makes sense. Cruz is a very reasonable man and I’m sure would have had no problem renegotiating his contract to a more team friendly number.

As much as I appreciate Jerry Reese going out and bolstering up the Giants defense last year (Finally). He has always been one to just cut, or not pay players who have been great and loyal players to the organization. Perhaps it’s time for someone else to be cut from the team.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
