A Farewell To Vine
Your EDM

Just a day ago, the world and social media world received disappointing news.

Twitter released a statement pertaining to the home of 6.5-second videos, the mobile app Vine. The statement saying “Today, we are sharing the news that in the coming months we’ll be discontinuing the mobile app.” Vine is now going to be a thing of the past.

In the statement they went on to thank the creators on Vine, the team behind Vine and especially the viewers who laughed, shared and enjoyed vines for 3 years.

If you are anything like me, Vine has been a huge source of entertainment day in and day out. Whether I see the vine on Vine itself, Twitter, Instagram or Tumblr, I can always count on Vine to make to me laugh no matter how down I may be or the kind of day I was having. Some Vines have become legendary, creating catch phrases, mottos, and moments that people still talk about and recite daily. Yes, some have become worldwide memes and that is only the beginning of what the app has done to the social world.

Creators on Vine have reached new audiences being there for the people who needed a light in their life. Some creators have taken their 6.5-second videos and now have careers in comedy, acting, singing, and much more. Some have a social media presence that makes you laugh, cry and smile. You may see them in commercials, on TV shows, at major events and more. You also may see them on the street, at a concert or while scrolling through your feed. It has been truly life changing for some. Life changing for creators, fans and everyone.

I believe that all the people behind Vine and its success deserves a thank you. This may be sappy but hey if something makes you happy, it always deserves a thank you.

Thank you to Vine for allowing people to express and create while feeling connected to something bigger and better than anything they could imagine.

So thank you to the creators and teams behind making Vine. You made an incredible app that only brought happiness, acceptance, humor and art to people’s lives.

Thank you to all the creators on Vine for creating vines that have physically made me laugh out loud, and cackle with my friends on a Friday night till our eyes water and stomachs water.

Thank you to the creators who have spoken out on social issues, who have beat down social norms and expectations who created something that is unique and interesting all while making you laugh at times.

Thank you to the people I now know through Vine, and can support and appreciate them and their endeavors because of a simple app.

Thank you to the videos that have gone viral that now make people laugh at the simplest of phrases or actions.

Thank you to the people who are fighting for the app to come back, I know it is pretty sucky but if you love something you have to fight for it, right?

I give Vine my loveliest farewell, thank you for allowing me to create and enjoy this app for all it is. You will always be one of my favorites and I will still recite vines till the day I die.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
