The thank you Odyssey deserves....

Farewell, Odyssey
Kimmy Traub

I started writing for Odyssey over 2 years ago. 10 months ago, I became the EIC for the University of South Florida's community. I've written 104 articles (including this one) and reached thousands of people.

I first became aware of Odyssey through my academic advisor. He told me it would be a great way to write and show people my voice. He was right.

It's bittersweet to be leaving Odyssey after graduating college. This was one of the first community's I was a part of at USF, and I've met really great people along the way.

So, everyone at Odyssey, I want to thank you. You've taught me a new way of writing, a new way of friendship, and a new way of communicating. Thank you for teaching me how to write for a specific audience/platform. Thank you for helping me reach thousands of people.

Thank you for giving me a voice.

There are thousands of writers for Odyssey, and I know every single one of them is as appreciative as I am.

For those who want to write for Odyssey, apply. I know you think our articles are awesome, and you could be writing them, too.

Lastly, thank you Odyssey, for helping me see my goal in life - being an EIC was the first step to attaining that goal.

I could go on and on about what Odyssey has done for me, but I'll leave it at this: Thank you for being a part of my journey.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
