1. Do you have to be a Christian to go here?
You do not have to be a Christian to attend Grand Canyon University. What's really nice is that if you want to explore and grow in your faith, you are more than welcome to. However, you're not required to be affiliated with any religion to go to GCU.
2. What's the transition like from high school to college?
For me, the transition from high school to college was seamless. It was so easy to switch over. The classwork and homework load here is far easier than what I was doing in high school. I was able to really find a schedule that works for me and classes I enjoy.
3. What can you do to get involved?
There's SO much to do at GCU. Between intramural sports, club sports, clubs, and other events, there's plenty to do. The BEST part about getting involved, though, is joining the GCU Havocs. Our student section is gaining some serious national attention, and it is so fun to be a part of.
4. Can you work on campus?
There's about 3000 student worker positions on campus. You can do anything from driving a golf cart around to giving tours to potential students. There's a lot of opportunities to work here if you seek them out.
5. Do you like GCU?
I absolutely LOVE going to this university. There's truly no other place like it. I've been able to get plugged in, and really find myself here. I knew from the moment I got on campus that this is where I needed to be, and I'm so grateful I get to go to such an amazing school.
6. What are the negative parts about the campus?
The only downside that I can really say about GCU is that there is quite a bit of construction. Even though the construction can be pretty loud, it's okay knowing that it's just a part of the school that's expanding. This school is constantly growing, so it's a cool thing to be a part of.
7. Why did you choose GCU?
GCU was set up outside of a spring training game about 6-7 years ago. I was in sixth grade at the time. When my mom and I saw them, we went and talked to the students that were running the booth. I decided then that I wanted to attend GCU. Fast forward six years, and here I am. I wouldn't change a thing.
8. What's the cost to attend?
The cost to attend varies from student to student. There are so many scholarship opportunities that usually your freshman year is the most expensive. Once you're on campus, you'll be able to find ways to get more scholarships through leadership opportunities and by other means as well.
9. What would you say to a student that is on the fence about GCU or college in general?
When looking into colleges, it is important to make sure that the school you want to go to has your major. Getting a quality education is important, but it is also is crucial to find a place where you feel like you're home.
