When I was in fourth grade I remember that I had to write a paper on answering who I wanted to invite to my birthday party. I had a very thorough answer, in which I invited George Lucas to my birthday. No one in my class except for my teacher knew that I wanted to invite one of the best directors of all time to my birthday.
From the fourth grade onward, "Star Wars" has been one of my biggest inspirations. I always told my mother that I wanted to make the next trilogy. Sadly, I missed out on that one, but I still love Star Wars, and I find inspiration in them all the time.
Up until my freshman year of college, my dreams were to direct or write movies, so maybe one day I would get to work with my hero, George Lucas. I still have the hope of maybe just meeting him, just once, but I have slightly realized my dreams outreached me. However, upon the release of "The Force Awakens," my spirits regained hope because I knew that J.J. Abrams would not fail what little fourth grade me always dreamed of. I—past, present, and future—was not in the least bit disappointed. It was so beautifully exciting for me to watch my dreams be created so perfectly up on the big screen for the newest generation of Star Wars fans.
I even geeked out myself after "Episode VII" was released. I walked into The Disney Store, and they had so much amazing merchandise from the film that I had to buy Kylo Ren's mask. Now before you start calling out how terrible capitalism is for making me want to buy this product, just let me inner child have this moment. After showing my boyfriend my new mask and refusing to take it off for almost a solid week, he bought me Kylo Ren's lightsaber.
He probably regrets that decision because I would distract him by playing with the lightsaber and trying to use the force to read his mind. I am telling you this because "Star Wars" brings out my inner child. I can relive those times when anything seemed possible, even going to space to create the next Star Wars. Here's a picture of me being a total fan girl:
Later on, my birthday rolled around, and my mother (knowing how much I love Star Wars) bought me the soundtrack to "The Force Awakens" on CD and vinyl. I have to show you the vinyls because they are just so awesome!
The first time I played the first vinyl, and the opening theme started to play, I got so excited that I cried a little bit. The music is amazing, plus it really helps me to concentrate, especially now that finals are coming. My mother also got me a Darth Vader bathing suit from Hot Topic, and it is amazing as well. I even have a "Star Wars" ringtone that is just how big of a fan I am.
My boyfriend also took me to Build-A-Bear Workshop to make a "Star Wars" bear. His name is Hans, as in Solo, not the evil prince from"Frozen".
Anyway, I can drag on for days about all the "Star Wars" merchandise I own, but it is small in comparison to the excitement I get every time I watch. I am watching "The Force Awakens" even as I write this article. Every time I see one of those fan made videos on YouTube, I get so excited that I cry a little bit. This one is my favorite:
I legit get goosebumps and cry a little with excitement. These films continue to give me such hope and excitement that I can admit my fan-love for them. I seriously love Star Wars so much , and I cannot wait for more films to be released.
