We must remember the famous people who once walked around campus just like us.

As students at Purdue University, we like to believe we are better than anyone else (particularly IU). As we make our case for being the best, we must remember all the famous people that have earned their degrees from Purdue and continued to do amazing things in the world. Listed below are just a FEW of the famous people:     


Charles Alton Ellis:

This name might not sound familiar, but he is the brains structural design of the Golden Gate Bridge. Initially, he was not given credit for the designs because he was in a feud with Joseph Strauss, but Ellis had signed the design and was eventually recognized in 2007. 

David Boudia: David graduated high school in 2008 and is frequently spotted walking around Purdue University. He has been a member of the United States National Diving Team since 2005 and won a gold medal in the 2012 Summer Olympics.   

Mike Neal: Mike Neal attended Purdue University from 2005 to 2009. He was then drafted in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. He is still a linebacker for Green Bay and has Super Bowl ring to show for it.   

Orville Redenbacher:

Orville Redenbacher grew up selling popcorn out of the back of his car. He later attended Purdue University and graduated in 1928. He is known for his delicious popcorn that is still sold throughout the United States.    

Drew Brees:

Drew Brees is among the most famous of Purdue Alumni. While at Purdue, he established two NCAA records, 19 Purdue records, and 13 Big Ten conference records. Brees was the first pick of the second round during the 2001 NFL draft. He currently plays for the New Orleans Saints. The Saints won the Super Bowl in 2009 where Brees was named the Super Bowl MVP.    

Neil Armstrong: Most people know Armstrong from his academic building and statue outside of it. He attending Purdue University and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He is most known as the first person to walk on the Moon.
