Family, are the ones that are there for you no matter what. Family to me is my brother, sister, father, and mother. They are the people that know me the best and support me the most in my life.

Ever since I was younger I valued the meaning of family. Everyone always asked you who your best friend was I was the one to say my parents. I was always one to be close with my family and tell them everything. No matter if I was playing sports or singing in the choir I had to make sure that my family was there. Just there presence gave me reassurance of how much they meant to me and vice versa. They were the ones that when I came home from school they would ask me how my day went and I would respond always saying good.

As years go on, you get older and wiser and start to face situations where you need the support of your family. An example, would be choosing where to go to college, ultimately one of the biggest decisions of your life. You are picking a place where you want to continue your education, while being miles upon miles away from home. The place you choose to go will ultimately become you home away from home.

When it came to picking a college I had a few in mind but was not sure where I really wanted to go. With the help of my parents I was able to go through the college process and find a college that was the best fit for me, Ithaca College. I wanted to pick a college where my family was able to see me come play field hockey and they did just that. Driving three plus hours every weekend just to see me play.

Being away at college is hard because you are not able to see your family every day. They aren't there to comfort you on the rough days when you really need a hug or a laugh to cheer you up. However, my family is different. They always have been there for me, no matter what. I always put my family first and make sure that I am able to talk to them every day whether it be on the phone or a quick text just checking in to see how they are doing.

As years go on, I know that I will get caught up in my job, family, friends, etc. but my family will always be the ones that I still turn to for advice and comfort. They are the ones that know me the best.

One thing I was always told is that, you will always have your family and trust me that is extremely true.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
