Family Makes for the Best Travelers

Family Makes for the Best Travelers

No one wants to be the girl that says “I’m going on spring break with my family.” However, to me, this is the best statement to ever come out of my mouth. Spring break, or any vacation in general, is the best when with my family. Here are the best reasons that spring break with family is by far the best:

No Pressures. Your family already knows basically everything there is to know about you so there are no pressures about anything. Want to give your liver a little break? You don’t have to drink excessively and party all the time with them. Didn’t make it to the gym as much as you wanted? You don’t need to have that perfect bod to be around your family. They love you no matter what, right?

Paid For.Usually when vacationing with family, the poor college student doesn’t have to pay for any of it. When going with friends, the responsibly can fall on us to fund our way. This can mean less money for bars later on, which is definitely a bummer. Included in this category is also the hotel and food. If your parents are paying, they will usually pick a nice hotel to stay at and nice dining options.

Family Time. Yeah, people may think this isn’t a big deal and “lame." However, these are the times we must cherish with our family before we finish college and move away from home. We only get so many breaks from school to spend with our family, so we better take advantage of them. Plus, no one can make you laugh like your family does.

Yeah, that family vacation that you haven’t been looking forward to or think is lame may just be your best one yet if you give it a chance. Who doesn’t want to spend a week with the people who gave them everything?

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter
morethanwheels

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
