The common expression, "Blood is thicker than water," translates to the idea that the relationship within a family is the strongest bond a person can have. The older I get and the more I experience life, I've come to learn that this expression is not accurate and certainly does not apply to everyone.

Of course, there are tight net families who, I'm sure, do have a stronger bond than others they have met due to their circumstances. Though not everyone's circumstances are the same, and not everyone feels that closeness and trust to those they share a bloodline with, compared to those they have chosen to become friends with and gone through life with.

Personally, I feel so extremely lucky as I have amazing family members who I love and trust, as well as amazing friends who I love and trust just as much.

My friends and I have been through so much and would go through so much more for one another, and it's created such a bond that I know I can trust them and rely on them no matter what.

The friends you find in life are truly the family you have chosen. Many people will agree with me when saying that friends of theirs will be the first to come to your rescue in any situation.

Just because someone does not share the same blood with you, it does not mean they are not family. My friends are my family, and I am so grateful to have such a huge support system in my life.

We all have the power to choose who we surround ourselves with. If you were not born into a family who treasures closeness, that does not mean you cannot find that strong bond in life. We form our own relationships and create our own family.

Blood isn't always thicker than water. It's all about who's there for you or not.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
