Unexpected Family

Family is more than just who you're related to.

Some of the best things in life come from what you do not plan. Now it is said that family is the most important thing in life, let me tell this is true. Now when I say this I do not mean blood is family, by any means. I have good blood that I am related to, but I don’t really say that they are family to me. Some of the people I consider my family the most I have no blood with. Now this will be from both views of the people that are involved.

"The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb." This is the full saying that a lot of people say everyday. I bring this out for the fact that I grew up knowing that the person would be there if I called. Now in my life I have people that become like family for me. My actual family and I aren’t close for a few reasons. Now we get along but the way that we are doesn’t make us compactly as people.

One of the people that became family for me is my older sister Audrey. She has become a huge part of my life. We have stories of good and bad times that we talk about. We have each others back to the point of extremes. In the past eight years we have grown closer than what I am with my siblings. The way that this has happen is the fact that we have spent more time together.

Another two that has become family for me is someone that has become family to me is Korrin and Leah. They have become a little sisters to me. In which I have become greatly protective of them. In which I act like an older brother to them be teasing them also. However much I tease them, if someone puts a hair out of place I’m the first one to have a baseball bat in my hand. Okay, it may not be that extreme, but it helps prove a point that I am there for them when they need me.

Now for the last person that had become family for me, is by far the hardest one to talk about. He had become a brother to me before his death. This person and I were two peas in a pod. We had worked together at the theater doing lights and sound. He was a mentor, partner in crime, and most importantly a brother to me. Zach had a spark about life that inspired people. We were two people that were so alike that we honestly could have been brothers by birth. Now this closeness that I am saying that we had could be just me thinking this. He was a good man and a even better friend.

Now I hope everyone has good ties with their family. However if you don’t there are people willing to be it for you. Now enjoy time with them before it is too late to do so.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.
