"I did not have sexual relations with that woman." The statement is one of the most memorable lies in American history. So isn't it somewhat ironic that the man who made it famous, former President Bill Clinton, is writing a fiction novel as we speak; or should I say as we write.
The President who is clearly versed in telling fiction stories will be teaming with best selling author James Patterson to create a piece about... yep you guessed it , a President. In the duo's novel the president is however missing. Hence the novel's title ..."The President is Missing". The novel will be released in one year and is being published by Alfred A. Knopf and Little, Brown and Co. Knopf has worked with Clinton on prior literary projects .
In early May, Clinton said he would be drawing on his former experiences in the White House to create the setting and scenes for the fiction work. Wondering if there will be any racy Oval Office fellatio scenes? No word on that yet. The novel will "offer readers a unique amalgam of intrigue and behind-the-scenes global drama from the highest corridors of power," the publishers stated, in a release sent to media outlets earlier this month.
The release stated Clinton would supply intimate knowledge of presidential life. Patterson, on the other hand would provide the skills required to create a successful thriller . Patterson is the author of several novels. He has sold more than 300 million copies of his books and was on Forbes' list of highest paid authors in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Clinton is not too shabby in the book selling department himself. His 2004 memoir, "My Life" sold over two million copies , according to The New York Times.
The major public critique of Clinton's memoir was its length. Despite its sales the book was not praised by critics. It was described as "sloppy, self-indulgent and eye-crossingly dull" by the aforementioned New York Times. Clinton fans are hoping that Patterson can add his way with words and pulse-quickening plots to help Clinton write a piece that is less drab and more fab than his former attempts.
