The Sad Truth of Dating in Today's World

38
Blinded By False Love

Unfortunately the world we live in today, many men and women involve themselves in toxic relationships. From the start they are blinded by the apparent love they feel for their other half and cannot see the unhealthy nature of their relationship. They are brainwashed into believing the constant mistreatment and abuse they face is a form of "love." Many are in such denial that they can neither comprehend nor accept that they deserve better.

The sad truth about dating nowadays, is many of those involved in these kinds of relationships are trapped. They become so invested with their boyfriend or girlfriend that they cannot physically bring themselves to let go. Above all the pain and suffering they feel, a part of these individuals keeps holding on. Holding on to this idea that things will get better. Holding on to this belief that their significant other will change. Sadly for many, that day never comes. No matter how many chances they give, the lies and the abuse keep coming.

That is why these individuals must learn to let go. As much as they may hate their friends and family telling them time and time again to move on, they should listen. Despite how much these young men and women may think they cannot find better or achieve "love" other than this, they can and they will. But their friends and family cannot do this for them. They must break the chain that anchors them to this relationship and be willing to let go on their own terms. Everyone is in charge of their own life and own destiny, therefore, the choice to find better is all in their hands.

And when that day finally comes they will see love is so much more than two people in a relationship; love is respect.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
