Fall's coming y'all!

Every year and every semester, students around campus always look forward to specific seasons. But for SBU, it seems like fall is the talk of the season.

Here's are 10 things to look forward to during fall:

Football

Tailgating, Keeping up with your favorite teams, Screaming from the stands, Watching your team score the game winning touchdown.

Cool Weather

Going on hayrides, (the hayrides can be spooky or not) Exploring corn mazes with your friends, Hiking through nature. During your hike through nature, try to make a list of items to find to make it more enjoyable!

Fall Clothing

Sweaters and Scarfs and Boots oh my... From cardigans to leggings, to sweatshirts to flannels, the fall clothing is very diverse.

Leaves

Changing colors, Falling off trees, Using them for crafts, making leaf prints, Jumping in leaves, Finding the prettiest or brightest colors.

Harvest Time

Pumpkin patch, Apple picking, Farmers market. Picking all the fresh snacks and sweets while having a wonderful time! During harvest time, try doing a photo shoot while picking apples or at the pumpkin patch to capture the memories!

Bonfires

S'mores, Gathering around the fire, Wrapped tightly in blankets. Looking up and seeing the stars, Enjoying fellowship with friends.

Haunted Houses

Facing your fears, Screaming with friends, Trying to scare your friends, Always looking over your shoulders to make sure nothing is coming from behind, (not always a good plan but it works)

Although, not everyone is a fan of haunted houses, they're still a huge thing for an activity during fall.

Halloween Movies

Disney Channel: Halloween Town Series, Twitches & Twitches Too, Hocus Pocus, Don't look Under Your Bed.

ABC Family: Casper, Matilda, The Addams Family, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride.

Horror: Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Stephen King's It, Spooky Hollow, Nightmare on Elm Street.

We could go on and on, about all the movies, but these are just a few that are classics!

PUMPKIN, PUMPKIN, PUMPKIN!

Pumpkin pie, Pumpkin spice latte, Pumpkin decorations. Pumpkin galore!

Holidays

Dressing up for Halloween, Getting a break to see family for Thanksgiving, Home cooked meals. Can't you smell the pumpkin pie now? Or the fresh baked homemade rolls that Grandma makes?

The seasons come and go, but with SBU students they countdown until it's fall! As soon as it hits September 1st, students are already chatting over, how its beginning to be all things fall! Even though, fall is only 3 short glamorous months, students soak in as my fall as possible!

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
