Falling Into Place

Appreciate the moments

When was the last time in your life everything almost seemed to good to be true? Was it when you passed the test you barely studied for? Or maybe it was when your crush texted you first and you could barely hide your rosy cheeks? No matter what the moment was, you felt like everything was right.

Savor these moments no matter how colossal or minuscule they may seem. Also remember to thank the people who made them happen. Take pictures to capture the beauty of those experiences and flaunt them. Why do all this? The answer is simple, when your life is the opposite of falling into place, what do you hold on to? What do you remember?

We are constantly blessed with amazing experiences and relationships but we forget so easily when the slightest bit of chaos hits our lives. What if instead, we stepped back from whatever situation we may be facing and we breathed. Are things as really bad as they seem? Probably not. Are you gonna live to binge watch another show on Netflix? The odds are probably in your favor. So relax, and surround yourself with the familiarity of all the things that make you happy.

For me, happiness consists of cookies, dancing and the people who make me...me. My family and friends bring me the most happiness and the greatest memories. They're the ones I choose to share my dance floor and cookies with. They are also the first ones I call when the pieces of my life seem to be falling out of place. Without them, I would feel lost. So, I tell them, "I love you," every chance I get.

The funny thing is when everything seems to be going right you can find yourself "too busy." Same with when everything is going wrong, but if you are honest with yourself, you're most definitely not! Clear up that schedule and make time for the people who matter, the people who make you...you. Cause if you don't, you will be a hot mess! I don't think we are meant to do life on our own. Matter of fact, I know we aren't. Have you tried to be self-sufficient for everything? (So tiring!)

Time is everything, so spend it wisely. None of us know when our time is up but we can choose how to spend that time every day. Why spend a majority of your time stressing and worrying about every little thing? Don't get me wrong a little stress is good to help motivate you to do amazing things. However, when the stress starts to overbear you and strip you of the time and memories that living life can give you, is it really worth it?

Once you come to a realization of how you want your life to be and who you are going to spend it with, things will always feel too good to be true because life is bigger than yourself when you choose to experience it with others.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
