Falling For Fall: 9 Reasons It The Best Season There Is
Walltor

It feels like the first month and a half of the semester has absolutely flown by and just like that the best season of the year is upon us. Unfortunately in Ohio, there is always the slight chance that we never even see fall and just head straight to the freezing tundra of Columbus winters. So my best advice would be if you are lucky enough to experience fall, take advantage of it. Why not let yourself fall for fall?

9 Reasons Why Fall is the Best Season of them All

1.) LAYERS. Whether you opt for a cute sweater or a baggy ex-boyfriend's sweatshirt, layers really are a gift from the Gods. Nothing feels as good as rolling out of bad hungover on a Friday morning and pulling on your comfiest sweatshirt or sweater and a pair of leggings. The best part is, this is a socially acceptable outfit for the crisp fall air. This also means you can skip the gym on those busy days and not have to be self conscience about how that arm fat (that is the bane of your existence) will look in a tank top.

2.) CUTEST POSSIBLE OUTFITS. On the rare occasion that you do wake up early enough to shower and put on a cute outfit, the possibilities are truly inspiring. Fall clothes really are the cutest. I mean, come on, riding boots, sweaters, statement necklaces, vests... what could be cuter? So when you have the time, throw on a fashion blog worthy outfit and play model for the day!! Or at least make sure to have a fall outfit together for Thanksgiving Day to ensure the perfect sibling photo.

3.) ENDLESS INSTAGRAM OPPORTUNITIES. If you are reading this article you are most likely a stereotypical girl (sorry to call you all out). For those of us that have embraced our inner "basic" self, one of the best parts of fall is the photo opportunities. It's finally time to take those "candids" of you at a pumpkin patch or laying on the ground with your hair perfectly placed so you can see all the perfectly colored fall leaves. The best ones of course are the "candids" of you and your friends throwing leaves, until of course someone gets a leaf in their eye and all hell breaks loose. But hopefully, you can get an Insta worthy photo before that happens.

4.) NATURE. Everything just seems to be more beautiful in the fall. The red/orange hues of the leaves just really bring everything to life. You can even avoid the filter step on Instagram since fall itself is practically a filter. The natural fall filter seems to just makes everything prettier (including your selfies... yay!). So definitely get outside and do all that cute nature-y stuff before winter comes along and keeps you locked inside. To save you the trouble of googling fall activities, some of my favorite are: pumpkin picking, apple picking, hayrides, haunted houses and scenic (Instagram worthy) walks with friends. If you are lucky enough to have a nice hiking trail near you, go there!!!!

5.) HALLOWEEN. I think it is an undeniable fact that fall contains 2 of everyone's most beloved holidays. A month into fall we get to experience one of the best holidays of the entire year, Halloween. Whether you are 9-years-old dressed up as a fairy princess or 20-years-old dressed up as whatever requires the least amount of clothing, Halloween is amazing. You are either out getting free candy or out taking Halloween-themed shots and let's be real, both of those options are ideal.

6.) THANKSGIVING. Once the Halloween bliss has began to fade, fall enchants us again with Thanksgiving. I am eternally grateful to the Pilgrims and Indians for gracing America with this holiday. Thanksgiving really has it all. It has family, endless amounts of food, football and fun (the 4 best F words). So start counting down the days now and get ready to stuff your face!!!

7.) PUMPKIN SPICE FLAVORED LIFE. Now to channel the inner basic, white girl in all of us with fall comes the beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte (thx Starbucks for creating a drink targeted at the stereotypical girl). When you sip your first PSL of the season, you just feel at peace and like you have your life totally together. Unfortunately, after that first cup reality tends to set in and you realize you do not have your life together at all, but you have found the secret to instant happiness. So even when your life is in absolute shambles and you can't even imagine how you will ever get your room clean or pass that exam or land a job, just retreat to your local Starbucks, grab a PSL and be happy. And once you finish it, you can return to your previous meltdown.

8.) TAYLOR SWIFT. 3 years ago on October 22nd, 2012 every white girl's hero came out with her best album to this day, Red. Taylor Swift killed it with this one. I mean in my eyes there isn't another album that captivates fall more. So naturally, the Red album has been my anthem for the past 3 falls and for the rest of the falls to come. So regardless of how you're feeling, throw on some TSwiz and let the world fall into place.

9.) FOOTBALL. Nothing captivates fall quite as well as America's pastime. Football not only provides great entertainment and competition, but it provides family, friends and the feeling of belonging to something bigger than yourself. To me, fall is about being with people you love and doing fun stuff outdoors and going to a football game is one of the best ways to do that. If you are lucky enough to be rooting on the Undisputed Champions with me (GO BUCKS!!!), then you understand what I mean when I say belonging to something bigger than yourself. And even if you don't go to the greatest university in the world (sorry I'm a little bias), you still have the opportunity to stumble into the stadium and cheer on a team with the rest of your school. So please do everything in your power to make it to at least one game. And for my fellow Buckeyes, make it to at least one Carmen Ohio every season.

Hopefully you now agree that fall is hands down the best season of them all, but if you don't at least make sure to enjoy all the perks fall has to offer!!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
