Falling Back Into Autumn: Six Things You Cannot Wait To Return

It’s that time of year again! This Thursday, September 22, is the official start of the autumn season. Which means the return of all of our favorite things! I am going to go out on a limb here and say fall is the best season all of - and if you do not agree you're wrong. If I could live somewhere where fall lasted all year long, I would pack my bags and move there tomorrow. Fall brings an abundance of wonderful things with it; here is a list of some of my favorite things from this season to get you in the spirit!

1. Fall Foods

It is just me, or is food always the first thing that comes to your mind? So let's just get right to it to start off. Fall means coming home to a bowl of squash soup after spending the day in the brisk autumn air. It means waking up to the warmth of coffee on your lips. It means indulging in all of the goodies you've been missing! While the list is endless, here some of my favorites:

Pumpkin Spice Lattes

Alright, so I guess they have been around for about a month now, but now we can enjoy them without feeling like a fall-obsessed freak (but don't worry, your secret is safe with me).

Soups and Stews

Finally, you no longer have to wait until you come down with the flu to scarf down your favorite bowl of soup or stew. Make a pot and enjoy!

Apple Cider

It's time to put away the summer lemonade stand, and set up an apple cider one. After all, when life gives gives you apples make apple cider!

Candy Corn

Would it even be fall without candy corn?

2. Fall Fashion

New season means a completely new wardrobe. Bring on the cool autumn air because we are ready and looking cuter than ever. Here are some of my fall fashion favorites!

Boots and Booties

UGG® ... don't you just love a good pair of boots or booties? Its time to take these babies out of storage, because these boots were made for walkin'.

Oversized Scarves

Do you and your outfit a favor by skipping the cold and wrap up in your favorite scarf. Not to mention they are wearable blankets. What's not to like?

Sweaters

I am convinced sweaters look good with anything: Jeans, leggings and even skirts!

Fuzzy Socks

There is nothing like snuggling up in your favorite pair of fuzzy socks after a long day of school or work. You can never have too many fuzzy socks, trust me I know from experience.

Flannels

Flannels look good as shirts, jackets and tied around the waist. You really can't go wrong with a couple of these in your wardrobe.

3. Fall Beauty Looks

So that was just the outfit portion of your look, now lets move onto Makeup and nails!

Smokey Eyes and Burgundy Lips

If Cara Delevingne wears it then so should everyone else. Period.

Dark Nail Colors

Admit it, you feel kind of scary wearing black nail polish in spring and summer. Well now you can finally rock all the dark colors you've been holding out on all year!

4. Fall Outdoor Decor

The best part about autumn is how extraordinarily beautiful it is; the worst part is that it is the shortest season of all. So don't miss a second of the beauty and take it all in. These are natures way of letting you now its fall:

Leaves Falling

There's something about the sound of leaves crunching underneath your boots that never fails to make you happy. It's the welcoming of fall and the leaves are saying hello.

Pumpkins

Even if you never find your way to a pumpkin patch this fall, it is guaranteed that every local store has. Pumpkins are simply unavoidable around this time of year - not that it's anything to complain about!

Eerie Skies

I swear I'm not crazy - I mean not completely. But the gloom of an autumn day makes all of the leaves standout and is simply breath taking.

5. Fall Indoor Decor

If outside can decorate than so can we! Here are a couple of things to add to your home:

Candles

Take a visit to Bath & Body Works and pick up their Pumpkin Caramel Latte and Marshmallow Fireside scented candles. You will thank me later.

Blankets

If I am being honest, I like keeping my house slightly on the cool side just so I can snuggle in a blanket and fuzzy socks. And now I don't have to run up the air conditioning bill to do so. Who knew saving money could be so easy!

6. Fall Activities

This time of year also means the return of some of our favorite outdoor activities. So bundle up in your fall fashion and enjoy!

Football Games and Tailgating

Okay guys, this one's for you! I say we stop the confusion between fall and autumn and call it "Football Season" instead. Am I right?

Bonfires

Some wood, a lighter and some marshmallows? Sounds like a party to me!

Fall is the best time of the year for plenty of reasons! So get ready for September 22, because I have been since last fall!

The 5 Painfully True Stages Of Camping Out At The Library

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

You need sleep, but also have 13 things due in the span of 4 days.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.

1. Finals are weeks away, I’m sure I’ll be ready for them when they come.
