A Memory of Us

With every season comes a new chance to experiment with style. Trends pop up at fashion shows, but the real runway is your everyday life. Here are 16 essentials you'll want in your closet this fall.

1. Sweaters

Sweater weather is officially here. Need I say more?

2. Cardigans

Literally anything will go with a cardigan. Your options are virtually endless: oversized, fuzzy, wrap-around, casual, professional - and don't get me started on colors, solids, or prints! You're pretty much guaranteed to find a cardigan you love.

3. Fleece-Lined Leggings

I got a pair of fleece-lined leggings for Christmas last year and they changed my life. (Maybe not drastically, BUT STILL.) These are the perfect choice for days when it's cold or you don't feel like wearing real pants (or both). Trust me on this one.

4. Scarves

Scarves are practical and super cute! You can pair one with a sweater, a dress, a cardigan, a t-shirt: the list goes on and on. There are really good deals out there so be on the look out!

5. Tights and Stockings

I love wearing tights because 1) they keep your legs warm and 2) you can mix and match with different outfits! They can also help stretch your summer wardrobe into the fall. Pair a summer dress with a cardigan, a pair of tights and flats or boots, and you'll be good to go!

6. Long-Sleeve Dresses

Long-sleeve dresses are great for any occasion, whether you're going to work or going out. Pair a dress with tights or fleece-lined leggings for a hot look on a cold day!

7. Light Jackets

Remember all those times Mom told you to put on a jacket? Yeah, she was right. Get a jacket you love so much, you won't need reminding!

8. Boots

The beauty of boots is you can dress them up or down. Pair them with your favorite pair of jeans and t-shirt for a relaxed day out, or put them with your favorite dress for a night on the town. Just make sure they're comfortable!

9. Rain Boots

When there's hurricane-like weather outside, the last thing you want is cold, soggy feet when you get to class. A cute pair of rain boots will keep your feet dry and warm. Plus, you'll have an excuse to jump in all the puddles you want! (You know you want to!)

10. Kimonos and Shawls

Do you want the warmth of a cardigan with a more flowy vibe? Have no fear! Kimonos and shawls are your best bet on a chilly fall day.

11. Denim

Denim isn't just for jeans. Denim jackets are a classic staple that never go out of style. You can also rock a denim skirt, shirt, or bag in your favorite outfit.

12. Button-Up Skirts

Skirt enthusiasts, rejoice! These cute skirts have made a comeback. There are several different colors available, from tan to cranberry. Pair this skirt with tall boots for a retro look.

13. Headbands/Ear Warmers

Don't you hate when it's so cold outside, you can't feel your ears and they turn bright red? We've all been there. Do yourself a favor and invest in some ear warmers. You'll be glad you did come November.

14. Nature-Inspired Accessories

Bring some of nature's beauty to your style! My personal favorites are leaves because they remind me of trees bursting with color, one of my favorite sights. You can continue wearing your accessories after the trees are bare for a gorgeous earthy look!

15. Beanies

Don't be a meanie; wear a beanie! Beanies are perfect for a relaxed day out. They go great with the final item on the list...

16. Flannel

We save the best for last, right? Nothing else says "fall is in the air!" quite like flannel. Wear a flannel shirt over your favorite t-shirt while you're out and about, or pair it with a long-sleeve shirt to keep warm at a bonfire. Don't be afraid to try different looks as you make it unique with your own style!

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
