Where did Summer go? It feels like just yesterday that beach days were in full swing and everyday the only decision was which bathing suit to wear that day. But now that fall is approaching and school is in session, we must put ourselves in top gear, in life and fashion. Transitioning from Summer tanks to Autumn sweaters can be difficult, especially when you don't have an idea of whats in and out for this seasons fashion. The best indicator of what to expect for the upcoming styles is all in the fashion runways. Here are some of the repeating styles I saw in the recent New York and Philly fashion runway shows that will be prominent in everyone's fashion this fall.
Statement Jackets
Whether it's a pop of color, full on fur, or graphic detailing, jackets this season are here to be essential part of any outfit. All the top brands from Gucci to Ralph Lauren have included beautifully detailed outerwear in their fall lines. According to Free People, their jackets are meant to be "WOW" pieces and conversation starters for any fashionista bold enough to rock it.
Wild Booties
Western influence has made its way into the fashion world people, so straddle up! Booties are a great way to style up more simple outfits, even just a pair of jeans and a sweater. Many styles this year are repeated styles we saw in the 70's, just like this round-toed boots.
Cozy Sweaters
Obviously, sweaters are an Autumn must have. Sometimes they're even considered "basic" due to how common they are in everyones style. But this year, brands are creating sweaters with personality, with taste. This season, expect to see less of those plain gray sweaters and more of these colorful and unique patterned knits- but no matter what, they are still our most beloved Autumn essential.
Bohemian Chic Style
This summer's fashion was full of boho style, so why not continue the fashion industries cutest trend into fall? Throwback 60's patterns and materials are all over everyone's fall lines, from velvet to floral, from bell bottoms to ruffles, and everything inbetween. In these early stages of fall, we feel like the heat will never die off. But if we swap a cardigan for a kimono, we can make this transition a stylist one.
Two-Toned Clothing
Vogue has recently published an article on the importance of this new trend- two toned outfits. Taking two different fabrics of different colors and stitching them together to make a geometric piece- something so simple yet so impactful in any outfit. It is such a simple way to add a dose of fun to your outfit without going overboard.
