Fall Traditons

"Falling" for this season

Fall Traditons

Everyone has their own fall traditions that they look forward to doing every year. I love being a part of fall activities and I whole-heartedly enjoy the fall atmosphere. After going pumpkin picking today, I decided that I wanted to write about all of the fall traditions that I participate in.

1. Pumpkin Picking

Going to a pumpkin patch and picking out your perfect pumpkin off of the vine is something that is not only so satisfying, but such a bonding experience for whoever you do it with. Everyone has that pumpkin that they love. Personally, I like the round fat ones with the long stem, but some people prefer the skinny ones, or the super huge ones.

2. Apple Picking

Apple picking is a big activity for my family. It's so fun to climb the trees to find the biggest apple. My family loves to apple pick when they give you those giant sticks to knock down and catch the apples in the little basket. It's a tradition for us to make apple chips after, but a lot of people make pie, or cider, or other apple treats.

3. Apple Cider and Cider Donuts

I am not even a big donut lover, but when it comes to apple cider ones, I can't resist. Apple cider (hot or cold) is also the perfect fall treat.

4. Jumping in Leaf Piles

Seeing piles of leaves on the ground full of reds, oranges, and yellows, makes for the perfect fall atmosphere. Who sees a giant leaf pile and doesn't want to jump in it?

5. Going Through The Corn Maze

I should say "getting lost" in the corn maze instead of going through it. Today, my family and I got so lost in the corn maze that we cut through and made our own path.

6. Haunted Hay Rides

Haunted hay rides definitely scare me, but it's totally a fall night kind of activity. Going with a group of friends and braving it out together screams fall night.

7. Halloween Activities

Halloween parties, decorating for Halloween, picking out a costume, and more, Halloween is a huge part of fall and it forever will be.

8. Bonfires

Making s'mores, playing music, sitting around talking with friends; all of those bonfire activities are my favorite things to do. On a chilly fall night I love to put on cozy warm clothes and sit outside by the fire.

9. Pumpkin Spice Everything

I love pumpkin spice everything, from donuts to muffins to coffee. I love that you can find and eat everything pumpkin flavored, and I love the feeling of your first pumpkin spice coffee of the season.

10. Carving Pumpkins and Roasting the Seeds

Talking about the seeds first, roasted pumpkin seeds are absolutely amazing. They taste just like fall and are the perfect snack. When it comes to carving pumpkins or painting them, it's so fun to see what everyone chooses to do. Whether you have the skill or not, carving a pumpkin is a really fun fall tradition.

Even writing this article made me excited to continue on with all of the fall traditions that I haven't done yet. I hope that everyone reading this takes advantage of the fall season and makes sure they participate in and make their own fall traditions before the season ends.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
