Fall, the Season of Change!

"Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale." — Lauren DeStefano

Fall, the time for pumpkin spice lattes and being basic as hell. But why not right? Fall is a time for fall fashions complete with cute riding boots and that one scarf you’ve been dying to wear that goes with every outfit in your closet. A time for warm apple cider and the beginning of hot chocolate season. (I sees you Dunkin Donuts) A time where the leaves turn the prettiests of reds, yellows, and browns and the beginning of you freezing your butt off because you forgot that the weather is now 53° and you didn’t think you would need a jacket or sweater for the day. For you sports fans, fall means football becomes even more of a big deal and that time of hockey and basketball games are getting closer. I know I can’t wait!

The thing I like most about fall is the scenery. The air just smells crisper and cleaner in the fall. Autumn is all about those leaves and how they slowly fall signifying the end of summer and the start of a whole new time in your life. Fall is like Mother Nature’s last gift of beauty to us before everything gets covered in snow, well if you get snow. It’s like she’s showing us the beauty of change and how not everything stays the same forever, but even when the change happens, it’s beautiful and all for the better. I’ve always loved that. I don’t know, maybe because I know that after all the leaves die and fall off and all the snow melts away from the winter that everything will be new and beautiful in that sense. Because it’s new! It gives a new meaning and a new beauty is seen in the eyes of the beholder. Then you look back and look at all the changes you’ve seen during the seasons. How your life has changed and how all the things that have died and melted away have made you into even more of a beautiful person. It’s like a positive reinforcement that change is good. And whether the snow doesn’t melt away completely at first or the flowers and leaves don’t grow back as pretty as they use to be, there is always something beautiful and special to grow the next season. Sometimes the seasons don’t give us the results that we want, ask any farmer. And even they know that the next year and next few seasons won’t be the best. But once the next fall comes, the next chance for change, there will be something beautiful to grow. There’s never anything ugly to come after fall. Even if it takes a while for the change to come. Sure, winter is cold, and the first few weeks of spring aren’t so pretty either, but it’ll happen. Even nature knows that in order for there to be something beautiful, something needs to give and fade in order for it to improve and become even more beautiful. That’s the sadness that comes with fall: that the thing you thought was so beautiful for so long is gone within a few weeks and gone with the weather. But stop thinking of it in a sad light, IT’S FALL!!

So wear your rain boots and riding boots everywhere. Pull out the Uggs is you’re ready! Go get some Hot Coco, Apple Cider, and anything Pumpkin Spice flavored! Buy as many scarves as possible and dig your oversized sweaters out of the closet because IT’S FALL!!!! And I hope you FALL in love with this season of change!

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
