With college courses around the corner for many and the calendar slowly approaching September, the best season of all is headed to a state near you. That is, unless you live in Florida. It's always summer there. All jokes aside, it seems that fall gets pushed to the side when people mention their favorite seasons. I am here to set the record straight on why I believe fall is the greatest three months there is.
First, the weather is not too warm, and most of the time, not too cold, especially in the beginning of the season. It provides a nice breezy, yet warm environment in which everyone can feel comfortable. Plus, if you get too cold, what's better than putting on a warm hoodie fresh out of the dryer, am I right? The leaves turn burnt orange and cherry mahogany and scatter the ground, providing a beautiful scenery for those lucky enough to experience autumn. It truly is a time to be alive and to see such a gorgeous, majestic view.
The amount of things to do in the fall are truly endless. From haunted houses and hayrides, to cider mills, to a simple raking of the leaves into a pile and jumping into them, there is never enough fun to be had. My favorite thing to do is watch scary movies, especially on Halloween. They usually have a 24 hour marathon on some stations, where you can watch gruesome flicks like Saw, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I love visiting Yates Cider Mill with friends and family, as it is a relaxing way to enjoy a treat and forget about your worries.
Last, but not least, the cremè de la cremè, football is back. Yes, 60 minutes of pure pigskin entertainment, forcing millions of Americans to sit in front of their televisions every weekend to root on their teams to victory (or, if you're a Browns fan, pray for one). My favorite thing to do during football season is fantasy football. For those who have been living under a rock, fantasy football includes drafting a team of players to score points for your team based on what they do in the actual game. It is a great way to learn about the players and engross yourself in the game, as well as make some extra cash if you're good enough. Here's wishing luck to all of your teams this year, fantasy or not!
In sum, fall deserves a lot more respect when talked with the other seasons. It brings back a lot of great memories for myself and I'm sure you have some great memories yourself. And no matter where you stand this political year, we surely can agree that #FallLivesMatter. I'll excuse myself now.
