Never Fear, Fall is Here!

There are so many reasons why Fall is my favorite season, and here are just the ones at the top of my list!

It's finally that time of year again! With summer coming to a close, it's time to start getting ready to properly celebrate the greatest season around – Fall! There are so many things about this wonderful season that it's hard to name them all, but here's a list of my favorites. Many of them are food-related, and for good reason.

Pumpkin Spice Lattes

This is at the top of my list for so many reasons, but the number one reason is that it's only available for a few months out of the year. I wait nearly nine months for these delicious drinks, and they are well worth the wait! Whether you're grabbing a hot one on a chilly day, or getting an iced one to cool down on one of blistering Fall days we are so used to in SoCal, the pumpkin spice latte is perfect for any kind of weather. There isn't anything more quintessentially Fall than this.

Infinity Scarves & Boots & Sweaters

While this one doesn't always apply to our perpetual summer out here in Southern California, it's one of the nicest fashion perks of the Fall season in the rest of the country. There is nothing cozier than getting to bundle up in your cutest sweater and infinity scarf, and what better way to pull the entire outfit together than a nice pair of boots? I try to wear at least one of these accessories during Fall, even if that means wearing a tank top and shorts with my infinity scarf. It's totally worth it.

Baking Cookies

While baking cookies can be a year-long activity, it's exceptionally rewarding during the Fall months. Letting the smell of those delicious autumn-smelling cookies permeate the house; there's absolutely nothing better in life than that. Bonus points if your cookies are traditional fall flavors: pumpkin, apple, cinnamon, or molasses.

Mickey's Halloween Party

Exclusive to Disneyland, Mickey's Halloween Party is one big celebration that happens every night for the entire month leading up to Halloween! Mickey Mouse throws the best Halloween party of all time, and that includes all of his villainous friends, trick-or-treating around the park, and other special Halloween surprises. It's no wonder that October is one of Disneyland's busiest months of the year.

Halloween (In General)

Even outside of Disneyland, Halloween is one of the greatest holidays of the year! There is no better way to celebrate Fall than dressing up, going to fun parties, and getting loads of free candy. There's nothing better in life than that.

Thanksgiving

A very close second to Halloween, Thanksgiving is also an incredible Fall holiday that revolves around eating lots of delicious food. Thanksgiving is the holiday of feeling thankful, and celebrating the love you have for all your family and friends; what better way to do that than gather around the table and stuff your faces with some tasty food?

Apple & Pumpkin Flavored Everything

It's not just the pumpkin spice latte that makes Fall feel real, it's the seasonal aisle of Trader Joe's where everything is pumpkin flavored. Not to be left out of the spotlight, apples make quite the appearance during the Fall season as well. Just take a walk down the seasonal aisle of your local grocery store, and you'll see the two flavors lining the shelves. There is probably a reason that we gain so much weight during this season.

While food is a pretty large factor as to why Fall is my absolute favorite season, there are plenty of reasons why I look forward to these few months all year long. Eating pumpkin cookies with my family while we are wear matching infinity scarves is something that just can't be beat! Even if it is a little on the warm side, I'll always make sure to wear a tank top so my scarf-wearing days aren't numbered. Here's to the upcoming season of Autumn!

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
