I'm a Starbucks barista. In the back of house area, we have a board that shows updates and new arrivals. One day, I noticed that there was a new sign: the Fall beverage announcement. If you happen to know me, you know how much I love Pumpkin Spice Lattes, hot drinks, and fall pastries, like the return of the pumpkin scone.
Needless to say, I was ecstatic. Seeing this announcement made me remember why I love fall so much, and why it is, in fact, the superior season.
Don't get me wrong, summer is a close second. I'll be honest though, the amount of sweat (especially with the mask mandate) is really killing my skin's healthy vibe. There's just something about September-November that just really works. Temperatures cool down ever so slightly, layers start to come out, and hot drinks become a staple.
Other than living in Ohio for a majority of my life, I have also been a frequent visitor of Tennessee, and I lived in Florida for half a year. There is truly nothing like the changing of the seasons from summer to fall, when colors change and nature evolves. I'm a huge fan of storms, so living in Florida during hurricane season and getting to experience a mild one was literally so cool.
Also, let's not forget one of the coolest parts of fall: Halloween. Oh, and Thanksgiving. Then eventually, Christmas. (I know Christmas is in the winter, but it's still so close!) The holiday season has always had a special place in my heart, but let's not forget the most exciting holiday of them all — Black Friday.
I don't know if its just me, but I get so excited when new Black Friday ads pop up and I'm able to plan out my route. Last year, I shopped from 4 p.m. all the way till 5 p.m. the next day. I love a good discount on some Tory Burch flats and designer jeans.
In all seriousness, if you've been in a COVID slump like I have and you feel like you have nothing to really look forward to, look forward to the fall arrival. Even if the holidays aren't the same this year, they still exist and they still will be there for you. It's bizarre to think that just a sign with some beverages and a release date was able to cure my mood one day, but hey, it works.
