Well. It's that time of year again, and it is possibly for the last time.
Fall semester of college.
The even weirder part though? It's my last semester of college. One more to go until I'm out of this place that is MIT. That thought is absolutely insane to me. I feel like it was yesterday when I walked in here for the first time.
The funniest part of the whole experience that is my last semester? I'm not even taking a full course load! I'm 3 units below a "full-time" student course load, but I'm absolutely hosed.
I'm taking two acting classes, and one of them is pretty extensively involved in theory which means that there is a ton of memorization. Add to that the capstone engineering class that is 2.009 at MIT, where we have one semester to sift through a ton of ideas that our particular team comes up with and then present a working model of it about a month after its actual conception. Then we add that I'm helping TA for another engineering class, I got a role as a main character in one of the plays on campus, and I'll be preparing material to audition at MFA's soon.
That last one right there is the weirdest part. It's like a huge throwback to senior year of high school when you had to get your recommendations written, write all of your essays, fill out all of the filler information, and finally submit the application to a school. The process changes very little from then to now, except now you have to keep reminding yourself about all of these deadlines. I am the absolute worst with deadlines and e-mail, both of which are pretty key things to the whole application process.
Bottom line: the semester I thought I was going to be coasting through is now getting to be incredibly hectic, but even so, I'm having a pretty awesome time. The pattern I've found with myself is that the fuller my schedule is, the more productive I've become.
And hopefully, I'll be sharing that journey with y'all here on Odyssey as both text and video.
It's gonna be one heck of a ride. Leggo.
