A Bucket List For All Fall Lovers

If you didn't already know what you wanted to do this fall...

A Bucket List For All Fall Lovers
Mary Buchan

Fall is here, which means cooler weather, warmer drinks, family, friends, and the holidays. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year, as it is many other people's. Because of this, I've put together a fall bucket list that I think everybody should complete within their lifetime - I'm sure hoping I do, anyways!

1. Take a photo shoot in a pumpkin patch

Just between you and me, this has always been on my bucket list. Taking a photo shoot in a pumpkin patch is not only extremely adorable it's - well, okay, it's just extremely adorable, so who wouldn't want to go do that? Plus, when you take a photo shoot (especially if you're in a relationship), you automatically have photos to use for Christmas gifts, greeting cards, and just to decorate the house with! I mean, who doesn't want cute Fall-themed photos around their house during Thanksgiving?

2. Visit Boyd Orchards

I just happened to venture upon this orchard while scrolling through pictures on Instagram. What immediately caught my attention was that my last name was in the name of the orchard, so of course I looked more into it! This Orchard is in Kentucky, it has a 90' slide, a corn maze, a train, hayrides, animals, a pumpkin patch, and you can even pick your own fruit! Throughout the year, Boyd Orchards hosts many different types of festivals. They also have this really cool big chair that everyone sits in and takes pictures in (because who doesn't love giant things?)

3. Partake in a "haunted" corn maze

I love scary things; I love scary movies and haunted houses. I simply love being scared (as long as I know I'm not actually going to die). I've never done a corn maze and I think that it would be fun to do, but what would make it even better - especially in the middle of Fall, when Halloween is right around the corner - is to do a haunted corn maze. I'm not quite sure what this would entail, as I've never even been to a normal corn maze, but I think it would be fun - and frightening!

4. Host a friend-mas

So, I don't mean an actual entire Christmas dinner like friends-givings normally are. When I say friend-mas, I mean more like getting together in pajamas, baking cookies, exchanging gifts, and having a Christmas movie marathon. Who would pass that up?

5. Make all my favorite fall recipes

Everything apple, everything pumpkin, and everything yummy! I have tons of recipes I've been dying to try out, and I just added more to my list after reading this article about Fall cocktails to try!

6. Have a scary movie marathon

So I tried this one last year. But it only last about 2 or 3 movies, so I want to try it again. Like I mentioned before, I love everything scary - including movies! The goal is to start when I wake up (with whichever loved ones you're with), pull out a ton of blankets - or, if you're like me, an entire mattress - bring out all the fun snacks, and start the marathon and make it last all day! It's always great to watch newer movies like The Strangers, The Purge, or even Prom Night, but don't leave out the classics such as Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, or even Dead Silence! All of these movies make for a perfect marathon.

7. Win a costume contest

One of the best things about Fall is Halloween! Everyone, including adults, get to dress up as their favorite characters. One of my Fall bucket list items is to win a costume contest. I've barely even participated in one, let alone win! And who doesn't love being told by a room full of people that they have an awesome costume?

8. Go apple picking

Apples are delicious and if you're the kind who loves Apple Pies or Apple Crumble Cakes, Fall is the perfect time to make them. So why not make these delicious desserts yourself, with your own hand-picked apples? On top of this just being plain fun, this can also be a great way to spend time with your loved ones.

9. Attend an Oktoberfest Festival

The great German culture, beer, and even more beer; who doesn't love Oktoberfest? Well, I've never been to one, so I truly can't say! But I'm a firm believer that anybody who walks on this planet should attend at least one of these festivals in their lifetime! How much trouble could you get in at one of these festivals anyways?

10. Go on a haunted tour

Scary movies and haunted mazes are fun, but something that's even better is real haunted things. Now, this is not an invitation to spirits to come haunt my house - no thank you! But I've always wanted to go on a haunted tour. You get to look at different places, learn their histories, and maybe even experience a spooky encounter of your own!

11. Visit Halloweentown

I saved the best for last! Anybody who watched Disney Channel in the 2000's is obsessed with Halloweentown. Every year around this time, articles and pictures go around Facebook talking about how the town that the original movie was filmed in has a real-life Halloweentown every October. If you haven't been, this has definitely got to be an amazing experience. Just imagine: you get to live inside a movie that you watched growing up! How amazing would that be?

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

11 Moments Every College Freshman Has Experienced

Because we made it, and because high school seniors deserve to know what they're getting themselves into

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
