Fall in Love with Yourself First

What does self love truly mean to you? Do you really genuinely love yourself? Self love is something I have struggled with, always. I think we spend so much time trying to love everyone around us & make everyone else happy that we forget that at the end of the day, that we have to take care of ourselves first.

Self love means loving yourself enough to walk away from everything that brings you down. People, things, social media, anything. In order to be happy, completely, with yourself you have to love yourself enough to walk away. This is not easy to do, I know this because I experienced it. Walking away from something you love, but isn’t good for you is so incredibly hard. Walk away from things that make you feel like you aren’t loved. Love yourself more.

Invest time in yourself. Love yourself enough to invest in you. Invest in your well being-mentally, physically & emotionally. Take time to invest in things that make you happier and a being person. Things that make me happy are: traveling, shopping, coffee, yin yoga & a beach chair in the sand. Take time to do these things. Take time to invest in this because your happiness and self love is the root of everything in your life.

You have control over you. You can’t control other people, as bad as you may want to. You can’t change the way another person is, but you can control yourself. You can decide what is good for you, what makes you happy, what keeps a fire burning in your soul, what you want to do. You may want to do everything within your power to make someone love you, but you can’t change someone-you can only control yourself.

Be selfish. This may sound bad to many people and if it does, you haven’t found self love. Be selfish with yourself. Be selfish with your time. Be selfish with your love. Being selfish usually means you know your worth, you love yourself enough to decide how you want to spend your life.

You are the most important person in your life. We love people, we love things, but really we must love ourselves before it all. When you find true, real self-love you will realize how important & wonderful you are. You deserve to keep a fire burning in your own soul at all times & never let someone else control that flame. It’s you. It’s always going to be you at the end of the day. Count on yourself, love yourself, be yourself.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.
